Today they allowed 6 points and no TDs even though they scared us with a few big plays (McGahee run on the shuffle pass).

What I found interesting is that 3 of the top 10 defenses (by points allowed) weren't active today. Of the ones that were, Pittsburgh, Atlanta, San Diego, and Jacksonville all allowed 27 or MORE points. Denver, Minnesota and the Patriots were the only 3 top 10 defenses that didn't allow 27 or more points. They allowed 13 or less.

Now, regarding Denver's defense. They really haven't been tested yet, thought they did play the Rams. How they do against Indy, Pittsburgh, and San Diego twice will really decide how things go.

I pity the Colts. They face the Broncos and the Pats the next two weeks.

On target (as usual). What the Pats defense has accomplished so far is amazing no matter the competition. We are seeing the emergence of three top-tier performers on this team: Warren, Wilfork, and Samuel. How great is it to watch these young players reach their potential? It is more proof that the Patriots' program is brilliant not only in drafting but developing talent. The only minor disappointment is Colvin, whom I expected to have an all-pro season. Oh well, you can't have everything. There is a nagging question: Palmer's mobility and confidence are affected by his knee injury. Pennington had no running threat and a green O-line. Losman is dreadful. Harrington is a joke. Plummer is on the verge of losing his job. IOW, the Pats D has yet to face a talented, confident passer with a balanced offensive attack behind a solid O-line. The Colt game looms as the real test. Before the D can be stamped as "championship ready", we have to watch them against a premier opponent. Manning has never been better. He is taking hits; avoiding pressure; playing unflappably in the clutch (ha ha). Addai is running with toughness and power against dime fronts, showing good hands.
