Most teams are doing this (and the ones the haven't yet announced it officially will probably do so eventually). It is like I said yesterday about the Patriots giving fans the opportunity to opt out:

First they give you the chance to opt out of your season package but keep your seats.
Then, when the tickets aren't available, they force you to opt out of the season package but keep your seats.

Kind of OT but Kraft kept our New England Revolution season ticket money
up until the season was cancelled and they stopped taking the monthly withdrawal.
So better actually if they cancel I would say ... you save the money.
