OT: University of Miami DT Pata shot dead at 22

"University of Miami defensive lineman Bryan Pata was shot and killed Tuesday night, shortly after practice, school officials said. He was 22.

The shooting occurred at the apartment complex where Pata lived, about 4 miles from campus. His death was ruled a homicide, Miami-Dade police spokesman Roy Rutland said."

Pata was a top 50 or so prospect for this year's draft. The whole thing is real sad, condolences to the family.

What a terrible tragedy. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and the UM football program.

I am supposed to go to that game Saturday against the Terps (if it is played). Definitely one of those games where it doesn't matter who wins or loses. Whatever the result, it will be bittersweet.
