OT: Three teams to LA?

T.his is all about increasing revenues through luxury suites and corporate revenues. In his application Kronke notes that if a superbowl was held in his new stadium as currently configured it will add $50MM to the superbowl revenues.

There is nothing wrong with the Jones Dome in St Louis. The building is just 20 years old. There was nothing wrong with the old Giants Stadium. The sight lines were great for fans. The ONLY things that new stadiums are good for are the size of the video screen, and the amount of money the stadium can squeeze from rich people and corporations who really don't give a damn about the games they are watching.

LA has had 20 years to prove that they aren't worthy of a team, nor do they really want one. Despite the size of the metro LA area, and that that are the 2nd largest media market in the country, they have been unable to keep 2 teams financially solvent. Do they REALLY think the 3rd time is the charm?

Right now, the way the league is structured it would be very hard for a team to "fail" in any location. Christ, GB succeeds financially. However it is a very long step from being a failure to being the kind of success that warrants ripping one or two franchises from long term markets, all of whom have supported their teams for at least 2 decades.

I personally think the only team that should move to LA is the Chargers.

They literally have no fans and every home game of theirs is a home game for the opposing team.

Rams should stay in St. Louis. Raiders, I don't personally care, they can stay or go, but the whole "two teams in LA" thing just seems so damn forced to try and compete with New York. So maybe they're better off staying.

They've had trouble supporting one team, why do they think two will work?

I still think it should be Dallas. Jones is so horny for a team in LA that it's their fans who should get f.cked over.

Then the Browns can move to Dallas and Johnny Fussball can get his wish to play for "Dallas."

interesting, the NFL will net an extra $550 million if they go with the chargers/raiders proposal:

"Follow the money."

Most likely two will go. It'll really suck being the third... "Ohh yeah guys, we tried to ditch your asses but got denied... So uhh, yeah! Keep coming to our games!"

At least with Oakland and San Diego, LA is only a couple hours' drive north or south, so a big fan doesn't have to go a lot further to still see his or her team.

The league probably should've kept the applications completely quiet so your first point wouldn't be a problem.

To your second, I think it would good if they called the new Raiders or Chargers "the California Raiders" or the "SoCal Raiders" to be inclusive of the existing/old fanbase.

But I think most teams should pick the broadest, most inclusive regions like New England and Carolina does instead of picking a city to associate with.

My guess: Rams and Chargers will end up in L.A., the Raiders will stay in Oakland.

If it is the Chargers, how about the "San Angeles Chargers"?
