OT: The Chiefs had "Super Bowl fatigue"

Many Chiefs certainly looked and played like they didn’t really wanna be there. Kelce, Mahomes, Hopkins, some of their DBs. One of the only guys I saw really being animated and upset by the team performance was Chris Jones who looked beside himself all game. I wonder if he asks for a trade.

So what's the deal with the Chiefs drafting?

2024

Worthy - a move-up in the draft for the Chiefs, who traded up 4 spots for a guy withre fastest combine score in history. I didn't watch them a whole lot, but he doesn't seem to be really worth that trade up.

Wiley - 4th rnd TE. I've not heard his name at all. Playing second to Kelce, obviously. Dunno how he has looked.

2023

Rashee Rice - Mostly injured this season. 2023 he produced almost 1k yards and 7 TD's. How Kelce preforms and how much that affects Rice's production is yet to be known. I'm sure he'll help improve. 2nd rnd guy.

2022

Sky Moore - 2nd rnd, not much of a blip

Pacecho - 7th rnd, reliable running option, was injured last season

Seems like they're having a hard time grabbing the household names they're used to having. Who knows what that space will look like of Kelce leaves. Helaire is another bust, probably their biggest.

Do they suck at offensive drafting like the Patriots? Are they gonna splash in FA?

This - if even true - is beyond embarrassing. A real winner doesn’t get tired of winning.

It's been so glorious - all the Brady love this past week. Watching the Chiefs get their doors blown off was delicious. Having Brady announcing it was the cherry on top. Even better is Nick Wright's tears.
he still hasnt change his name to Nick Wrong?

I dunno. As a fan base, from 05-19 we've manufactured our fair share of excuses for why we fell short in the playoffs and in SBs.

With that said. With the exception of 07, fatigue was never one of them
If we are being honest KC this year was in the same position as us in 07 when fatigue set in. They were going for a 4th with mostly the same core of guys, a once in career spot at history was on the line, It was a significant legacy game for Mahomes and Reid the same was it was for Brady and Belichick.

We've seen this before. I know everyone wants to dump on the Chiefs, but we've seen this level of pressure get to the GOATs. Mahomes had a worse game than Brady by a lot but it was very obvious that the moment was an anchor weighing on the team.

I think the 07 year going undefeated and winning 3 straight SBs seems to be a different type of fatigue.

Seems like the Chiefs are claiming they were physically tired.

07 was mental fatigue due to stress and pressure. To keep them focused, Bill coached that team harder than any one before and since. Additionally you had the Spygate **** and taping SB36 practices hitting the news the day of that also permeated throughout the locker room before SB42.

...and like the Eagles that Giants team was playing really, really well and was a bad matchup.

I would move the Pats up 1... and really, the browns down one or two spots... reason being is the Browns won their first four championships in the AAFC... the AAFC was an 8 team league in the first three years of its existence and a seven team league in its last year of existence...

If we are going to count the record & fact book of the AAFC, which the NFL doesn't recognize, then the Dolphins are not the first or only team to go undefeated, it would be the 1948 Browns who also went unbeaten/untied... 14-0 in the regular season, 1-0 in the championship game...

I understand the greatness of Paul Brown & Otto Graham as one of the best Coach/QB combinations, but that should be taken into account... but thats just me... its your list and ymmv on that one...
I think there's a huge difference in the current era vs even the early Super Bowl era, never mind the pre-Super Bowl era. I would also put the Pats at #1 for those reasons. I would love to see how those teams matched up vs the ones from today's game.

The high ankle sprain that Brady sustained in the Chargers game was more of a factor than any fatigue.

I think it's harder now. Free agency is the #1 reason.

Yea but in reality teams now would overpower teams from the 60s, 70s and 80s and early 90s. Players didn't start getting BIG until the early to mid 90s.

The heaviest player on offense for the 1989 49ers was Bubba Paris at 300lbs. Biggest defensive player was Michael Carter at 285.

The 2025 Eagles would have run them over on both sides of the ball.

Again, the Eagles have played exactly one less game in the same time frame.
Yea i'm not buying the "physical fatigue" excuse.

To @lancerman 's point a case can be made for the pressure of going for a 3-peat might have finally caught up to them.

I think for fatigue read fear. The Chiefs were in reality an 11-6 team who somehow ended up in the Big Dance. No wonder they were afraid of the Eagles. Lucky they didn't lose by 50.

Still, it was a close game. It really came down to one play. KC was blown off the field, embarrassed, put down like an old, mangy dog. Not one of the Brady era Pats’ SB losses was embarrassing.

Basically, the Chiefs were physically and mentally destroyed by the Eagles.

I agree. I'll always appreciate the 07 team (no banners, please). They battled. They fought. They were grinders. Just a lot of **** was going against that team at the end.

If you remember every game as the regular season went on got closer and closer for the Pats. You could see them losing momentum.

I think folks are underrating the Eagles and their offensive line. The Tush Push / Brotherly Shove that everyone is *****ing about is about physical dominance. That play is basically automatic on short yardage. It's changing the game with their size and strength

IMO, Eagles line is as good as we've seen since the 90's Cowboys.

Peaked in Buffalo that year.

I had a Cowboys fan tell me the Lions were a better team than the Eagles this year. I was like not even close.

Yep. The slide started vs Philly on Sunday night.

Weeks 1-10- 41ppg
Weeks 11- SB- 27ppg

Teams started playing a ton of dime vs and dared us to run and throw to Welker. Moss was taken out of the offense. His stats during those same periods tell that story.
