OT: Seahawks message board goes too far?

If you know the person saying this crap doesn't really believe it, and is only trying to offend you, then why give in a get offended? My point is that this stunt is just childish. You're better to roll your eyes at it and ignore it than get up in arms about it and give the person attention. That is my point.

The only thing that idiot accomplished is a guaranteed Giants victory.

I don't see the big deal. I mean, it's obviously a horrible thing to bring up as smack talk but there should be no further punishment given to that guy then a banning. I've seen worse.

I'm kind of surprised his nonsense stayed up long enough to be noticed by anyone but the board's moderators. Anyone know if it was removed and if so, how quickly?

Based on messages on PFT, it appears that guy was the site's owner, and he got himself banned from other Seahawks boards so he started his own. In other words he is their version of NEM. (Not implying that NEM offended in the same particularly horrendous fashion, just drawing a parallel as someone else whose need for attention and desire to do what they wanted despite widespread criticism was paramount.)

I am very disappointed that there is still an element of human nature and/or cluelessness that would attack "Seahawks fans" for this sort of thing. Attacking groups of people for the actions of one or a few is so 16th century.

Anyone else think whoever posted this dude's personal information was far more over the top then the original poster? It's one thing to show the world you are loser, but is posting someone else's private personal and work information not illegal?

So if they try to offend, say something offensive and the listener/reader is offended, then the recipient is weak minded????
Sorry but in mind, the small-minded person is the one trying to offend. Here, the posters are trying to be 'funny' but there are some subjects that are off limits to humor, 9/11, slavery, Holocaust, pedophilia. I am the last person to ever be called politically correct but some things just aren't funny or topics for humor.

COME ON, we've all gotten a little laugh out of this before.

How is that illegal? I'm sure whoever posted it located it by legal channels. Moreover that's the risk you take by being a stupendous internet douchebag.

And to Wildo, my honest opinion is that, much like trolls, it is usually best to ignore people who are trying to rile others up, but this is the kind of thing that directly wounds people and is, imo, therefor different. Imagine, if you will, you lost someone in the WTC - a joke, in any form, about how they died seems to be beyond hurtful and hateful. We're not just talking about offending, we're talking about causing people pain, or poking at open wounds, and there is no way I can be ok with that myself. I can honestly say I hope to read a story that involves someone finding this guy and doing him harm.

The guy "Mason" is the Admin of the site it turns out, which just shows you anyone can do anything on the internet...It would be like Ian posting pics of Holocaust victims and then posting "jokes"(if thats what you want to call them) about the pictures

that may be the most disgusting thing ive read in quite some time. its amazing what kind of people there are in the world. being from new york, its just about impossible not to know anyone that was affected by 911. to have an "american" say something like that because of a football game embarrasses me. pathetic

im actually shocked that the outcry has not been far worse. if i were the managemenet of the seattle seahawks ill tell him to start rooting for another team. who would want that kind of animal rooting for their team. i just hope that we pats fans are nothing like that scum of the earth douche

Just curious if it was illegal or not. He may be receiving one or two e-mails from people now ...

The jerk who posted it runs that board.

The site has been down for about a day or so now. I heard people found out who the guy is and contacted his work and stuff like that. Guy probably shut the site down to try to hide the evidence. Seahawks may have possibly contacted him also since I'm sure they don't want their team name associated with anything of this nature.

Just found this on a couple of websites. Here's the story from Deadspin: Nfl: Seahawks Message Board Poster Succeeds In Creating Rivalry With The Giants, Fails As Human

And here's the NY Daily News story on it: The Blue Screen - NY Daily News

People b!tch and moan about Patriot fans, but I don't remember any of us going to this level, and we play the Jets twice a year AND lost to the Giants in the Super Bowl. Pretty tasteless by that Seahawks fan.

OTOH, it should be pointed out that New Yorkers are a disgusting group of sports fans who will boo anything and are a bunch of a-holes. If things were the other way around, they would be using the "It's just a joke, lighten up" card.

Anyways, discuss...

It is not a joke. On 9/11 I worked for Putnam Investments. The 2nd plane attack killed 299 people in Marsh McLennan. M&M is our parent company.

There were 11 of us that went to NJ to help rebuild the M&M IT infrastructure. I met alot of widows, widowers and kids that we never see a parent again.

This is completely classless. I hope someone hunts this jerk down and inflicts a lot of pain.

I know many other posters use profanity on our site (including hubby) and I have no problem with THEM doing it. But for me personally, I don't do it.

But for this guy......A big ******* ******* with even less class than I am showing. **** YOU.

I get the feeling he is reaping the rewards.

Yep. Way too far.
