Lots of news articles on ESPN are claimed by 'ESPN News Services', and at the bottom it says something like 'information for this article was obtained from [x]', oftentimes from the Associated Press articles.

Now, over the past two years I noticed that their news service articles are essentially plagiarized or very generously paraphrased rehashes of the same article written elsewhere.

Why does ESPN do this, for what purpose?

Just remember what the "E" in ESPN stands for - ENTERTAINMENT. Sadly, the network is moving towards "Access Hollywood" rather than a sports news network.

They are owned by Disney.

I cancelled my insider subscription to ESPN after that beetch went on her rant damning and effing all things Notre Dame and God. Disney/ESPN will do anything for your entertainment dollar. Disney has talking animals and ESPN has talking empty heads.
