You’re a good man BrotherBlues.
Sounds like you are from Panama and I’m glad your Proud of you area
Panama has a travel advisory since July 2023.
Level 2 (Exercise increased Caution) Most Places and Level 4 (Do not travel) 2 areas. Unsafe. High Crime
Maybe you can shed light on that
Costa Rica did have some sketchy areas but I felt safe. Probably the same with Panama

I do not mean to put your Country in a bad light. If you are from there
When you mentioned Panama. I never been, So I looked up to see what they offer. The advisories came up
Interesting. Panama and Costa Rica have always been the safest places in Central America. We had some protesters closing roads last year about a big mining contract, and I hear that influenced the advisory. Other than that, there are some very specific areas to avoid, but you'd have to try hard to find yourself in one of them.

Thanks for suggesting. I had never heard of Big Bend and now I’m down the rabbit hole !

That's my youtube channel. Highly recommend a canoe trip on the rio grande.

Florianópolis.

The wife and I loved New Zealand. The weather is backwards, so it would be fall there, but it's lovely and lots of things to do.

I am in Nova Scotia, which complicates things on several fronts. Including my access to destinations, due to the size of Halifax airport and their penchant for offering seasonal flights. Positioning is possible, but adds time and such.

-early March is brutal and I am risk averse : weather can (and usually will) disrupt things
-“far is relative” : I just can back from Manhattan for a few days and a month ago I was in Japan. Which I think is quite far from home. But a “March Break” trip doesn’t allow me, as a teacher, to be away forever and thus distance could be a major factor.
-I travel on points once or twice a year and I’m pretty proficient at restocking
-I googled Fahrenheit : 70 is 21C which is quite good for a Canadian ! If it’s fun, I think 65 would suffice ! That’s T shirt weather for us in March !
-so so many… Provence, Malta, Tokyo, Barcelona, Napoli, Budapest & more… I can’t remember a bad trip ! I guess the Mediterranean & Japan stand out.

Thanks for input and interest !
Awesome! My fam plans to be back in Japan in Apr 2025. As someone who loves travel deals, having to now plan vacations around school breaks pains me greatly.

With such a short time, SE Asia and Oceania are out of the picture. You're more well traveled than I, but it sounds like we have similar vacation vibes. Caribbean would be easy and great as others have suggested, but my relatively out of the box ideas for you would be Tenerife and Capetown, although the former requires the dreaded LHR to LGW transfer for a 1 stop trip, and the latter may not appeal to risk aversion. I haven't been to either, which are on the soon to do list, but many people I know rave about Capetown.

Have you been to Martinique? As someone who speaks not horrible French, I've always been intrigued by the idea of visiting. On a related note, I almost took a quick solo trip to New Caledonia, but traveling on cheap miles for 36 hours to visit for 36 hours no longer appeals to me.

I have considered Martinique & Guadeloupe. Even Saint Martin / Sint Maarten. But I really try to steer away from the south. I’ve been East (Budapest) & West (Japan) quite far away, but never under NYC (unless Napoli or Malta is on a lower parallel !)……..

My parents and brother have visited the Canary Islands and liked it. I’d be able to get there easier in summer, because of the seasonal flights from Halifax.

I decided long ago that I am not rich enough to see the entire world - so tough cuts will need to be made unless I somehow make it to a healthy 134 years old ! I’ve prioritized francophone areas, to an extent, to show my kids that their native language still flourishes in many parts of the globe despite assimilation ravaging at home.

Your tips are sound. Nouvelle Caledonie ! Would love. But, not in the cards for March 2025 !
