OT: Manning vs. Manning

I just did some comparisons between the two Manning boys. And based on their performance against the Patriots it is clear who is the better QB.

Both benefited from home field advantage.

Eli and Peyton each threw one int, so that is equal.

But Peyton had twice as many fumbles as Eli. Eli was much better at handling the pressure getting sacked one-third as often as his older brother. And rushed for 13 times as many yards.

Eli's QB rating blew away his older sibling 118.6 to 83.1.

Eli had a better completion % -- 68.8 vs. 59.3

Eli threw 4 times as many TDs.

Eli threw for 26 more yards.

I think the debate of which QB is better is over. Eli is the better QB.

Oh one other thing. Eli is more resilient. After losing to the Patriots a week later he led his team to victory over Tampa Bay. On the other hand, the week after Peyton lost to the Patriot, he literally threw the game away against the chargers with 6 interceptions.

Eli will never be as good a QB as Peyton, but Eli definitely gets more criticism than he should being a Manning, playing in the biggest media market, being a #1 pick. He's a more solid QB than someone like Philip Rivers. He has flashes of greatness but never will consistently be a Brady or his brother.

These QB's paths will forever be intertwined. Right now PR is the far better QB.

Rivers had nice numbers last year, but he also had a RB who broke so many rushing records and had a monster, monster year. He was in a considerably better situation. Tavaris Jackson has looked like Joe Montana in games where Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor are exploding or doing enough to keep defenders stuffed in the box.

Personally, I think Rivers and Eli are both average right now. But Eli has shown flashes of being a very good QB while Rivers seems to play well situationally, when is the last time he's carried his team on his back? He doesn't plant his feet well, has questionable vision, poorer mechanics than Eli even with the less interceptions and higher completion rate (lot of dump-offs).

Neither are winning a Super Bowl in the next five years anyway, so the debate doesn't even really matter much other than to say, those are two middle of the pack QB's and which one is better in some ways.

Dude!? Rivers also had better numbers this year. Sheli sucks and if you think he's actually superior to Rivers then I'll just go ahead and chalk that up to abject homer ism. That's alright too.

I hope we have the opportunity to interact again in the future. Right now it seems it's all about the pats business,
