I suspect that Davidson will be joining soon. I'm sure he will consider Bates. He'll also consider Pepper for DC.

I know it would be a promotion for Pepper, but I really hope we don't loose him!

Either the Globe or Herald mentioned that none of the Pats asst coaches contracts are up so that the Jets will have to ask for permission to talk to them even for promotions. The speculation is that the Pats might deny position therefore Mangini may not even ask.

From Globe - Cafardo:

"With linebackers coach Dean Pees being named Patriots defensive coordinator, there are no New England assistants whose contracts will expire this season, so Mangini would have to get permission from the Patriots to interview any of them, and offer promotions; that does not appear to be in the cards"

Well that's at least some good news this morning. It would really suck to see pepper leave!

I heard yesterday that the Jets Brass want Rob Ryan as their new DC, and they sounded very determined about it. I also heard that they targeted a coach from the Minnesota Vikings as the offensive coordinator.

Also, isn't Davidson part of Romeo's staff? I could have sworn Romeo hired him to be his O-line coach in Cleveland last year. He is no longer part of the Patriots coaching staff.

I heard that Bates will be a package deal with Mike Sherman if Sherman is offered the Bills HC job. That could make the Bills tough.
