Not sure this was the best time to name him the starter. After the lolphins game Goff will be against the following QBs

Drew Brees (in New Orleans)

Tom Brady (in Foxborough)

Matt Ryan

Russell Wilson

4 of the top 5 QBs in the league.

Personally I'm a big fan of sitting a rookie QB for a year to give him a chance to absorb the environment, playbook etc...etc.. and I think there is a psychological difference from "you're starting the season as our franchise QB so it's all on you" to "We're going to have to start sooner than we expected but give us what you got". Well I guess we get to see the #1 pick.

He's facing the defenses. Not the QBs. Don't know why people stress that.

And he's facing a defense that needs to do a 180 or Mr. Goff will throw for 2 TDs and 250 yards with Mr. Todd Gurley finally go off this year for 130 and 3 TDs.

This D is in a very, very dark place. What caused it? Politics? Contracts? Trades? Who knows. If I don't see emotion and energy right off the bat next Suday against San Fran, those above numbers may go up.

He'll be given a good opportunity to get his confidence up vs. the Pats zone defenses with gigantic holes.

It'll probably look worse for Fisher if they start winning.

And of course the usual suspects turns this into a Pats defense sucks thread

And the delusional cheerleader just came in here to take a dump on reality.

I'm definitely glad he's getting to start this week. We'll have gametape on him in a couple weeks.

No **** sherlock. But going against 4 of the best QBs in the league means he likely will have to outplay them and given how that defense has allowed 30 points to the 49ers, Lions, Bills and Buccaneers not sure you can go into those games expecting Goff to play game manager and ride the defense to a win.

So now on-top of it being a question on if the Pats can beat the 49ers, there's now a question of if they can beat the Rams at home. Let's just forget about the 6 straight games of holding opponents to under 17 points before this last game.

DOOM-AND-GLOOM IN FULL EFFECT

Somebody better take that kid to Jared, poor guy.

lol delusional cheeleader. Defense played bad Sunday, no one is trying to argue against that. But i'm not going to go down the cry baby, sky is falling path you and the other chicken **** little doom-and-gloomers always do because of 1 game.

It'll be good for Goff. Facing garbage time defenses in the 4th quarter he can pad his stats to make himself look decent.

Do you even comprehend the lack of emotion and energy is a bad sign? That's the issue here.

I love it.. hahahaha

Man. They had a bad game. The offense turned over the ball twice and fumbled three times. And despite the turnovers and the lackluster defensive play the Pats were on the one yard line with a chance to tie the game. Against a SB favorite.

It wasn't that freaking bad.

If you ask me you are reading tea leaves. Just because you didn't see enough emotions during the scenes that were captured by the NBC cameras doesn't mean that the entire bench on the sidelines was dead. Again this is a locker room full with veterans, I doubt that there is an issue with leadership/excitement.

It's a trend man. Chatham had a tweet couple weeks ago. Chung lit someone up on a 3rd and short. He gets excited. No one else did. Just jogged past him to the sideline. It's happening every game.

No emotion from any sports team, especially football is a potential catastrophe. I'm sorry if people are incapable of seeing this. It's so bleeping obvious.

Yikes. I was half joking when I made my post. Surprised this turned into a pissing contest.

For real, though... he's probably going to light the Pats defense up.

You're seeing an emotional disaster and I'm seeing a team sitting in the first seed.

Tied for the first seed record wise with 2 other teams.

I said in preseason if they had to go to Oakland they would lose. The D, showing near zero emotion would collapse like a house of cards out there no matter the round. Nevermind KC. That could be a very real possibility. Unless there is a major change in attitude, the D won't be good enough. Period. Sugarcoat it all you want, until they start hitting with some emotion and getting excited for big plays by teammates this D will tread water at best.
