saw this in an article on nfl.com and was wondering what grossman actually said ...

His comments following the Bears' loss to the Green Bay Packers were something that only a few players in this league could get away with, most notably Manning and Brady. But in no way would those comments about New Year's Eve ever come from the mouths of those two pros. Maybe Grossman is a part of the new breed and he feels he should share with us his innermost feelings. But if I'm a teammate, a coach or a fan, and my quarterback said the things that Grossman said, I would be wondering if this guy has what it takes to lead us to the Super Bowl. And I would have him on a short leash. The good news for Grossman is that his team is playing the gang who couldn't shoot straight.

said his mind was on other things, didnt prepare to play the whole game, didnt bring it like he should....

surely you heard this.

Grossman scares the crap out of me (as a football fan, nothing to do with the Patriots). I think N.O. will come out of the NFC unless the mediocre Griese plays for the Bears. He's not good but he's less likely to totally implode.

guy has his head screwed on all wrong...by the way i was watching a college clip on caldwell that was on boston.com and grossman actually looked good in college (although it was highlights)...Bears should look for QB help maybe someone decent will fall to them in the draft...

Link? I haven't actually read every quote from every player in the playoffs. I'll google, but it would have been nice.

Never mind.

''In this league, especially at this position, you have to bring it every single week, no matter what,'' Grossman said Wednesday. ''And the situation was I felt like I was going to play about a half, and it was the last game, it was New Year's Eve -- there were so many other factors that brought my focus away from what is actually important, and that's something that I am never going to do again.

''There is too much I am responsible for to not give it 100 percent during the week and just the full attention. It's another lesson.''

It was a disarmingly honest admission from Grossman but frightening at the same time. Lack of preparation was one of the failures that led the Bears to run off the last quarterback they drafted in the first round, Cade McNown. And while the game had as much meaning as an exhibition to both teams -- the Bears' top goal was to come out of it healthy -- it's tough to get past an athlete saying he wasn't ready.

''The next couple of days, I may think about it more,'' sman said. ''But there's going to come a time where I am going to completely forget about it and move on. It was a meaningless game. I won't dwell on it too much. I definitely want to learn from it.''

What a Donkey. If anyone couldn't afford to let down it's him after throwing it up for grabs against the Pats.

How bad can Griese's character be, (hiccup), that he can't beat out this guy or Simms?

seems like many are picking the eagles vs NO, as for grossman , he's an idiot but he plays in the nfc so even he can get to the sb probably.

the titans would probably be a 12-4 team over there

Rex is exactly the kind of quarterback that would look good on a highlight film. He has the highest highs and the lowest lows. He's the kind of quarterback that can go from putting up a 1.3 passer rating against the Vikings, of all people, to 100+ passer rating performances against St. Louis and Tamba Bay before falling back down to this level against the Packers.

I understand that the Bears had to find out what kind of QB they had in Rex this year, but he's the same erratic guy he was in college. They should go to Griese or someone else next year. Cumulatively Grossman is almost as bad as Orton.

Here is what Grossman actually said:

Sexy Rexy said:
"In this league, especially at this position, you have to bring it every single week, no matter what," Grossman told the Chicago Sun-Times for Thursday's editions. "And the situation was I felt like I was going to play about a half, and it was the last game, it was New Year's Eve -- there were so many other factors that brought my focus away from what is actually important, and that's something that I am never going to do again.

"There is too much I am responsible for to not give it 100 percent during the week and just the full attention," Grossman said. "It's another lesson."

"It was New Year's Eve"? It was hard to concentrate on playing quarterback because it was New Year's Eve???

I know. Poor Rex. Someone from the PR office ought to be assigned to making sure Rex keeps his mouth shut. Too me he sounds like a little kid making up excuses.

He wasn't the only QB fixated on the holiday.

>>>>If the Falcons weren't busy getting their coach fired and worrying about getting back to Atlanta by midnight on New Year's Eve (as Michael Vick said of the latter in a conference call this week with Philadelphia-area reporters),
