Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

I know some listen , and some dont, some will give a crap and some wont.. But being from Pa, and before the internet and sattilite.. The mike and the mad dog show were a great listen.. and its a shame that these 2 could not put thier ego's aside.. WFAN in new york will never be the same..

Yeah that is to bad. He definitely made that show.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

Francessa though more of the football junkie, wont be the same by himself.. These 2 need each other.. I dont think either will be great by himself, but did like Dog .. He was entertaining.. Francessa is a fuddy duddy..

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

Wow man.

Two of the best guys in the buisness, a shame.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

Damn, this is a bummer. I love that show (except when they talk about horse racing) and I do a passable impression of both of them."I don't know about that, Doggie". "You got that right, Mikey."

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

A shame, I always enjoyed their Friday afternoon shows during football season.....

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

That show won't be close to what it was with just Francesa. Sirius won't be getting the same show with just Russo. Together they were the best sports radio show there was. It was actually sports talk - not the staged one devisive issue screaming match that is WEEI.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

Man, that sucks. I have been listening to them for years. I like Mike, but he needs someone with him...he's to stuffy when he does his own thing.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

The show was a classic.

I really enjoyed when Mad Dog would challenge Isiah Thomas on his bad deals and the 2 would nearly end up in a fight. Also, the day when the Yanks shut them down for an hour when the show criticized the Yanks cable deal...that was an unbelievable event. I knew from that day on that the YES Network was simply a Yankee puppet shoe.

As someone who feels nothing but antipathy for all things NY (except its pizza and corned beef), I agree. I've listened to WFAN for many, many summers on the beach in RI. While I have sometimes disagreed with their assessment of issues, I did enjoy the format and their give-and-take with one another. As recently as Tuesday, I was listening and noticed that Mike was solo and just figured the Dog was on vacation. It really is too bad.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

I like how he mentions he has 4 children to feed; As if making something like 30 million over 20 years doesn't provide enough funds to feeds his children forever.
(Not hating on him; just find it amusing cuz if an athlete said they same everyone would be ripping them).

Sad to see them go but nothing lasts forever...

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

I'll certainly be watching the show today on YES to hear Francessa and the fans calling in.

If there even is a show today.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

I listened to them for years back in my NYC days. "Mad Dog" was great, and he was always a nice opposite to Francesas' constant Pracells/Yankees ball washing. The day after the Sox beat the Yanks in 2004, it was the very first place I went to on the radio, just to hear their take on it. Francesa was very good that day, saying that the Yankees collapse outdid Bucky &*%^ Dent, and everything else.

I wonder where he will end up? According to the article, his contract release says he can't work for ESPN 1050 radio in NYC, but he can go someplace else. He truley has a "face for radio" so I'm guessing that he will saty on the radio.

BTW, Did you notice he did drop the "I got 4 kids to feed" line, classic!

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD AFFFteeeeeerrrrNOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNN Everybody!

What a shame. Simply the best sports radio program ever. I really enjoyed them back when I lived in Philly. Also enjoyed the show on satellite in 2004.

Re: OT- Chris Russo out at WFAN

I listen all the time in my car and frequently watch on YES even in spite of Mike's deep Patriot hatred...Russo lives in New Canaan, a town over from me, and is supposedly a decent guy when people have met him in person. Very sad.. end of an era....

I to have turned them on on my way home from work for years and enjoyed them far more than EEI. My favorite was the Saturday after the World Series win against the Cardinals. Russo is giving his listeners (yankee fans) a blow by blow description of the victory parade! Yankee listeners were calling up.."you're killing us Dog!" Priceless!
