I was going to say the same thing
Yeah, sorry the Lions-Packers example is not the best because a Packer player touches the ball first, so it looks like a muffed punt return. But the ball was considered live as soon as it crossed 10 yards, so a Lions player could have caught it legally as well. This is only possible to accomplish after a safety, as regular punts have to be touched by the receiving team before it is considered a live ball.
 
Reminds me of Australian league rugby where you can drop kick it to yourself to keep running with it…or maybe it’s something else I played as a kid…
