Buffalo seems like the logical fit one could argue although Jacksonville and Oakland already have some decent money invested into the QB position I could see either of them jumping on this just because. I know it might not seem like the right choice for the Rams but in turn they would get a proven franchise QB already under contract who hasn't hit his prime yet. If a trade happens I could see Pittsburgh sending a pick to the team trading for Ben or some type of conditional pick for 2011

Buffalo made an announcement today that they are out of the Ben sweepstakes

Hello Jacksonville

Re: Ben Roesthlisbungler is on the block..

I dont think Russell will start,Gradkowski will win that battle
Raiders QB Bruce Gradkowski will undergo surgery Friday after tearing a pectoral muscle while lifting weights on Wednesday.
Raiders signed QB Kyle Boller, formerly of the Rams, to an undisclosed contract.
You spoke too soon, poor guy can't catch a break after shredding both of his MCL's last season. Get healthy Bruce!

I don't know why everyone thinks Ben would come on a NEW team with NEW coaches,NEW receivers,NEW Running Backs and a MEDIOCRE coach and all of a sudden start winning immediately after week 9?

'Devastating Blow' is a bit strong,Ben plays 1 position

I dont think Russell will start,Gradkowski will win that battle

The Raiders have enough talent around him to where he would instantaneously improve their team by at least six or more wins. Maybe "devastating blow" isn't the correct way to word it, seeing as he wouldn't be back until after Week 6, but he'd definitely be able to put a pretty big dent in it.

I couldn't care less where Ben goes or what happens to him. Once a douche-bag always a douche-bag.... I wanted to use some more "colorful" language but I resist so as not to offend the site. But Ben is a major league slimeball, makes Tiger Woods look like a model citizen.................

I think they said he will be ready for the start of the season though.

You must really put Roethlisberger right up there with Brady and Manning to say he will produce 6 or more wins out of the remaining 10 games with a team that is disfunctional, unless you are talking about wins BEFORE Ben starts

I would say if Ben is a Raider then he may get them to 10 wins on 2011 but it will take time for a new QB to take the team to higher levels, the Raiders defense is good but not near the Steelers D right now,Ben is a solid QB but that Steelers defense had something to say about those SB years and all the regular season wins.

His weapons from 2004-2007 were not that great outside of Hines Ward. Hate Roethlisberger all you want (I do), but he's undoubtedly one of the top quarterbacks in the NFL.

I have to disagree. In my opinon, he's not even in the top 10.

Brady, Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers (another ass that I don't like), Favre, McNabb, Ryan, Palmer, and Schaub are all much better from my point of view. And I think Flacco will be at some point.

I'm guessing that it is a democratic town not because of its progressive social dynamic, but because of the importance of labor organizations to the local populace.

i wasn't talking about Political Parties, but about a down to earth mentality, rooted for decades in the labor movement, that characterizes the people, democrat or republican.

Can't disagree with either of those statements. Labor and Unions definitely keep a very strong footing in Pittsburgh.

According to the Oakland Tribune the Raiders contact with Pittsburgh hit an early wall because Al isn't willing to part with #8 and the Steelers aren't willing to do a swap involving #18... This is where having already traded that 2011 1st for Seymour kills flexibility going forward. No mention of if Nnamdi's name came up in the conversation, although in order to take on Ben on top of Russell and in light of Seymour's tag, something would certainly have to give financially, even in an uncapped year.

Maybe on some level this remains an exercise in teaching Ben about value, and not just to the Steelers.

But it's not really his "true" value, but rather his value given that he has a suspension of 4+ games that will, if nothing else, cost him $3M+ in salary.

I put Roethlisberger as the leader of the second tier right below Brady and Manning. The Raiders have a solid receiving corps of relatively no-name guys. He's got Zach Miller at TE and a decent running game behind him. These are all guys that Bruce Gradkowski shined with. No doubt that a two-time Super Bowl champion could make it work with that group. The defense is serviceable for what they would be able to do on offense. Basically, I believe that team is one good quarterback away from contending for the AFC South.

I don't even know where to begin with this. I can see arguments being made for Brees, Rivers, and maybe Favre (considering what he was able to do last year). But I would place Aaron Rodgers (who was in his second year starting last season), Matt Ryan (who took a huge step back in his second year), Matt Schaub (who produced numbers on par with Brady and Manning last season, but needed A LOT more attempts to do so despite the weapons he had), and ESPECIALLY Carson Palmer (did you watch ANY Bengals games last season?) ahead of Roethlisberger at all.

It's his true value at this juncture given any player is a package that comes with all manner of baggage be it physical, emotional, contractual, legal... What he may have been perceived as being worth last week or last month or last year - or next year, is really just (often hype fueled) speculation, and it doesn't really enter into the equation when you're looking to trade him or acquire him today. What he's worth today is reality. In Ben's case it's a great lesson in consequences.
