I was crunching some numbers this morning looking at NFL teams 3rd down success rate on offense and the relationship to winning % this season. Here's what I got:
The top 16 offenses in the NFL this season for 3rd down conversion success averaged 10.2 wins this season, a .637 winning percentage.
The bottom 16 offenses in the NFL for 3rd down success conversely averaged 5.8 wins this season, or a .363 winning percentage.
Pretty big discrepancy, it seemed to be the stats that was most correlated to win-loss record.
By the way, the Pats were 2nd in the NFL @ 48.2%
