Within an hour of Eric's JEST press conference, Pees was named as DC.

I don't think I can remember a quicker naming of a replacement.

Is there a message there? If there is, what would it be?

Rest and Reorganization are over, time to get back to work.

Oh, oh, I know, pick me.......*waiving my hand in the air frantically*

BB is a master at the art of preparation. He always has a backup plan as well as a backup plan to the backup plan and so on and so forth.

Secondly, he promotes from within. He is a big fan of cross training his players so they can step in and perform another role if needed. I would think that he would do this with his staff as well.

Something to think over......EM was having a hard time being the DC this year. There have been rumors of BB having to step in and help out. Perhaps BB was going to make a switch with Pees. BB does not hesitate to get rid of or bench players who are not performing up to his expectations, again I would assume this would also be the rule for his coaches??

Now THERE is an idea to mull over!

1. Is the Team's emotional state still in disarray after the season ended abruptly?

2. Does Mangini leaving so soon after the loss impact on the Team's emotional state?

3. Does naming a trusted and respected position coach (not coincidentally an old fogey with 3 decades of coaching experience) to replace the departed DC create a sense/image of stability within the organization?

4. Does naming a new and acclaimed DC so quickly send the message that the HC of the NEP is back on his feet and spoiling for a fight in 2006? :singing:

I don't know why, but pondering the answers to these questions creates a sense of well-being.

I think Peas was the only assistant who's contact ran out at the end of the season - they had to sign him before another team did.

Bingo!

We needed to sign him before someone else did. There will be many coordinators signed in the next couple of weeks.

well

I think it signals more than anything, that he was the man for the job and everyone knew it! Funny how all these stories are coming out now about the lack of "backbone" with EM. I know he's a great coach and all, but mabey this is the best fit for the pats!

Pees was Hawkins pick, so he's OK by me!
