Non-Deflategate: Reiss breaks down Spikes' contract

Wonder if this will be like Chung and he'll stick around for a few more years.

I think his PT will depend on the health of Mayo. Pretty sure Hightower will recover from his labrum surgery. Mayo's knee injury was a lot more serious. If Spikes can help hold-down the middle, allows BB to get creative with J. Collins and Hightower.

Good contract, very team friendly. Glad to have Spikes back.

Sounds good to me and man this board is driving me crazy so much garbage right now might have to come back in a month lol

See, I actually see it the other way. Mayo is cutrently healthy enough to have passed a physical and recently had his pact re-done. He's well on his way to recovery, and should be ready to go by at least August, if not the beginning of camp in July.

Hightower, OTOH, may be in line to start the year on PUP. He certainly won't be starting TC on time.

Either way, it's good to see the depth added.

I would almost prefer them to put Hightower on PUP knowing Spikes can handle the role for 6 weeks, and allow HT to come back fully healthy for the stretch run.

He had his contract lowered, they aren't confident he can play. Linebackers can recover from shoulder surgery much easier than knee surgery. They don't throw sliders.

I'm not sure Spikes makes it. I didn't miss him or his lack of foot speed. LB group will be interesting this year. Also, I won't be shocked if we trade Mayo sometime before week 6.
