Bleacher Report did a nice look-back piece on The Game That Must Not Be Named with a bunch of the '07 players.

Totally understand those not wanting to even see it. But it was still interesting:

10 Years Later, the Patriots Reflect on the Tyree Catch That Cost Them 19-0

Oh, and Maroney is clearly still a bit ticked at Harrison for trying for the INT instead of just blasting Tyree and causing an incompletion.

Don't forget the timeline: The helmet catch. Friday on NYJFL* Network @ 10 pm ET.

And in case you can't watch this must see timeline episode, reruns @

Saturday, 2 am ET
Saturday, 5 pm ET
Sunday, 12 am ET

Just here to help! Don't miss it!

Thanks for posting this therapy session. This actually brought closure to me. After a loss like that there is hardly ever a word out of the team and I wanted a postmortem. It is not the same listening to pundits. I want the team to talk about what happened. I still dont understand how they could keep rushing our o-line like that. It was a shock. Some said they were juicing. Sounds like an excuse but it was the first we saw the Pats get overrun like that. Still, our boys nearly pulled it off.

Despite all the bounces that were going NYG's way on the fumble recoveries, missed INT, non called holding on O'hara on the Tyree catch... Belichick still could've coached a better game and why he was by all accounts never more disappointed and apologetic to the team after the game, as though he felt he failed the team.

There was a 4th down play where we chose to go for it when it would've been I believe a 53 yard FG attempt by Gost indoors. We got nothing on that play.

We could've ran the ball a lot more instead of letting NYG pin their ears back and do what they do best that game. It was interesting hearing what our defensive guys said after the game. Seau waived off Harrison on the Burress TD when Harrison wanted to changed the play call away from an all out blitz. Tyree was Samuel's man but Harrison tried to bail him out and would've knocked the ball loose if he had either 1. tried to hit him hard enough to prevent the catch or 2. the ball hadn't landed on the exact spot on his helmet where Harrison going for the pick actually helped him secure the ball.

A lot of what ifs, some luck, some a result of questionable play callling on our part. A perfect storm coupled with NYG playing the game of their lives by their DL.

Still the greatest team in NFL history IMO, but you win some and you lose some.

Because they stubbornly insisted on doing what they had done all year: attempting to heave the ball down the field. Those plays take time to develop. Which gave the Giants time to get to Brady and shut down our offense even though their secondary was terrible. Nobody slams their head against a brick wall over and over again better than Josh McDaniels. If something isn't working he will just keep trying to cram that round peg into that square hole. By the time they adjusted, it was too late.

The Giants didn't beat us. We beat us. It was the only way they were walking off that field with the trophy. And that's exactly what happened. They could play that game a hundred more times and the Giants don't win once.

Agreed, in a way this was one of those rare times where we were un-Pats like by insisting on winning pretty instead of just going for the win by any means legally. Still a bitter pill to swallow and the toughest sporting loss as a fan in any sport as it would've been the ultimate FU to the rest of the league. It was one of those rare times where it felt like a foregone conclusion only for the 'unthinkable' to truly happen. I didn't tune into any football for a good week after the game.

Same. I tuned out all sports talk for weeks. I always say that was the worst sports loss of my life was that game. But that's not true. It was the Aaron (minor leagues) Boone home run. I put a hole in the wall, scared the hell out of the poor dog did not go to work the next day and spent most of the next week or so comatose. My girlfriend thought I was losing my mind. People who don't follow sports don't get it. It's like losing a pet. There's always that one psycho that wants to know why you are so upset. it's "just" a dog. Just get another one. If you have to explain it to someone, they will never understand.

The playoff game to the Steelers where we lost 7-6 because one of our players let up on Kordell Stewart because he thought he was going to go out of bounds, but instead kept running and ran right into the endzone. Good ole' Pete Carroll. That was pretty bad. Then again, we've dominated them ever since. So I guess we are even.

The SuperBowl against the Packers was pretty awful too. There was never a doubt in my mind that we would win that game. To this day, I still maintain we were the more talented team. Maybe if our coach had been more focused on the game that would have shown up on the field.
