NFLN All Fluff, No Substance

I couldn't agree with this more, I remember a couple years ago when I first discovered NFL network. It was actually the best, they always had documentaries and specials on even during the off season. Now it's almost all re runs and old games they show, and not to mention NFL total access has completely fallen off. I never had a problem with Kara Henderson before but she DOES NOT DESERVE TO BE ON THIS SHOW, neither does Andrew. It just seems like he doesn't take it seriously and I don't know, I just find them really annoying. The only analysts on NFL network that actually give real opinions are Jaimie Dukes and Mike Mayock. Once NFL total access got new people to run it, hated watching it. I didn't notice that they were hosting it full time until mid way through the season but then I realized and it just got so bloody annoying. It's funny that other people are thinking this, everyone here is saying oh we need a 6 hour path to the draft. NO WE DONT, THEY DID THAT AT THE COMBINE EVERYDAY, I DON'T NEED TO HEAR MIKE MAYOCK ANALYZING HIS DRAFT EVERYDAY. I WANNA SEE DOCUMENTARIES ON THIS STATION LIKE AMERICA'S GAME AND THE BRADY 6, I JUST WANT THEM TO PLAY THOSE NFL STEVE SABOL FILMS, people would really respect the channel cause it used to be like that. Also, fire andrew and kara henderson. Kara isn't as cute as she used to be a few years ago when she was reporting for the Patriots, I don't even think shes a MILF anymore. Look at her on a 50 inch HD tv, it's horrible and andrew needs to go, i don't even know how he got that job

and ESPN is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better then NFL network. I'll watch first take, mike and mike over NFL total access anyday. at least on espn, they give real opinions. NFL network is so conservative and bland, everyone is like a puppet on that show. It has some good moments but there's no real opinions or arguments

Like Bill says, it is what it is and in this case it's all about wide appeal and ratings and they are competing with Entertainment Tonight...

Serious or core football fans are a captive audience, they're pandering to the casual, ADHD fanboy, Madden video gamer and fantasy football generation driven audience...

...and Pink Hats...

I'd like to see Mayock and maybe Charles Davis do an hour long draft show once a week, not because they're the greatest evaluators of talent but because they can discuss football without all the other nonsense. 6 hour long shows before the draft, how hard would that be?

Isn't that what Path to the Draft is supposed to be?

Unfortunately, half of the shows lately deal with Luck v. RG3; a couple of other QBs(Tannehill, Weeden);
how Tebow & Manning affect the draft; the usual marbled-mouthed nonsense from Jamie Dukes; and
Charlie Casserly tying to be funny when he's not.

the sports media in this country is absolutely putrid. has been for a long long time. the way spysh!t was covered and the way it is still being framed by the media idiots is a abomination and a insult to ones intelligence.
If you think it's bad in the USA you need to take a vacation to Australia and subject yourself to the garbage here.

Unfortunately, things in general have become too show-bizy/entertainment-oriented vs. information/insight-oriented. But except for a few of the moronic "personalities" (Sapp, Faulk, etc.), I think NFL Network does a fairly good job. Mayock and Lombardi are two of my favorites.

Worldwide, information spread and presentations are becoming simpler because the average person is becoming dumber. I blame Rex Ryan for this.

It's sad given there's a large proportion of fans who enjoy "learning" and having their established thought process challenged by those who call themselves industry experts.

Yes that's what it should be but it's always exactly how you just described it. 3 or 4 players through the whole show, Luck and Griffen every show and non draft subjects.

How about an hour long in depth show on LBs? Maybe cover the top 15 prospects. The next week offensive lineman, the next week RB's. Etc

If it just background noise you are looking for, Sirius NFL Radio is for you. Yes, there is some typical sports talk yahoo-ism but most of the shows integrate former players, front office types, and coaches.

You don't hear a ton of blabbering about nonsense. They take phone calls on all subjects from all over the country so you get plenty of differing view points. They let their callers talk. Most shows have at least one player, coach, former player on per hour. I have learned more from listening to that station than from just about any other source (except here, of course!).

And you don't need Sirius XM to get it. You can download their app or listen online for a fee.

I know what you mean. I mean, I like their televised games (psyched for TNF week 2-15 this year), the draft/combine, and Replays/Documentaries/Top 10 lists. And while their Gameday Morning show is "ok". Their NFLTA show has become a joke. I remember when they didn't take everything as a joke, like, 5-6 years ago.

Agree 100%. It's also the only way you're gonna get to hear from Gil Brandt, who tells excellent stories.
