Needs Analysis: Tight End

Come on, with the glaring issues we've had defensively this season, realisticallty we wont look at a TE until the 3rd at the earliest. I would say OL is a bigger need than TE as well, esp as in our offense they are predominantly blockers

Who if anyone is value in the later rounds?

certain defensive needs (OLB, for instance) will likely be best dealt with via FA.........

the only guy who really has '1st rounder' written all over him is jermaine gresham........ he's the only one who can even come close to matching daniel graham speed-wise and bring the size along, too.......I think any TE that runs a 4.8/40 would be a waste in the first round.......you can get a guy like that for blocking purposes in day 2.....value-wise, local product ryan purvis will help as much as anyone not named gresham......he's another john carlson

Travis Beckum seemed to fall off the radar this year and I would be wary of him on the Pats. Then again, he kinda reminds me of Jason Witten.
A knee injury does cut into your stats line and headlines.

If you're going for solely a blocking tight end, you can get a good one on day 2. However if you want HANDS as well, that's another animal entirely. It's hard to find the all around tight end that can do everything. I'm just hoping that BB doesn't throw another 1st round pick at the area. Yes Watson hasn't been all that we've been hoping for, but he's a decent offensive weapon when he doesn't flub the ball or fumble it away. And his speed is for real, just wish it was more of a factor on the field.

One guy who I like is Bear Pascoe from Fresno State. Can catch, block and plays to the whistle. Has a nice mean streak while blocking. wouldn't mind picking him up say third round. focus on defense in the first and second rounds.

If Pettigrew falls to 24 then it will be because of something that's not even worth risking drafting him for

Pettigrew looks and reminds me too much of Ben Watson...that's not a good thing.:snob:

Pascoe ranks out as a 4th rounder right now... If as much junior and red-shirt sophomore talent comes out as they are hinting at, Pascoe might be had for a 5th or 6th round.. And he'll still be a steal. ..

Add Ryan Purvis from Boston College to the list for day 2.
