As a fan it sucks to see any players getting injured.
He wanted to help his team and when he started off the game you saw the whole team play well. Even if he didn’t last the whole game he gave the warriors a big boost at the beginning of the game instead of being down at the start of the game.

Agree. I give KD a lot of credit for playing less than full-strength when his team needed every man on deck.

Kinda reminded me of when McHale played with a broken foot during the 87 playoffs. He was never the same after that.

I feel bad for KD (I’m in the Bay Area and really like him, along with the Warriors), but let’s not act like this is some batsht crazy scenario. Many players play with major injury re-injury risks in other sports, particularly not Nike basketball ambassadors. The media and fans coddle these guys. Can you imagine going into a typical NFL locker before the Super Bowl to see what these guys are doing to stay on the field?

I'm a big hoops fan but when it comes to injuries a vast majority of them are very wimpy.

I actually think KD was still hurting and he walked on that court knowing the risks and took it. He was playing for a championship and he team needed all the help it could get.

I agree. The guy put himself at risk for the team (and himself, though). It took some balls to do it, and I feel bad for him. Overall, KD’s reputation is elevated and image rehabbed. Obviously that wasn’t why he did this, but it’s a nice silver lining to a bad injury.

That there is so much outrage and the assumption that team doctors, fan pressure, etc. are to blame for this is sort of a ridiculous reaction considering athletes do this all the time. Even in the NBA, Kyrie played on that Gumby leg/knee a few years ago in the finals before it blew out.

Oakland is known for having very cautious/ conservative team doctors, among the best in all of sports, not just the NBA.

It seems was more likely that Durant was allowed to make the call to play in game 5 himself. Very doubtful that he didn't want to play and was told to play. He is a super-competitor and didn't want to let down his teammates. Pretty admirable, if you ask me. Akin to McHale playing through foot problems and Bird through back problems.

I hope the he can make a full recovery. He's not someone who relies on freakish leaping ability. He can lose some explosion and still be an incredible player. A 7' tall wing player with a sweet shot and handles is a handful.

For that matter, compare them to hockey players. Look at Chara for example.
