The 14 million is relevant in a lot of ways - none of them good for the Bills.
Since everyone knows the Bills will cut him before they pay that it limits his worth on the trade market. Why give a #3 for a guy who will probably be an UFA soon?
Moulds essentially calls all the shots on the trade because if he doesn't want to go somewhere, he refuses to negotiate with a team and they can't trade for him because they too would cut him before paying the existing deal.
The Bills are trying to do now what the Eagles tried and failed to do with TO over the last month - get some form of compensation for a guy everyone knows you are going to have to cut. It isn't easy to do.
The only thing that works in the Bills favor is that Moulds will want this done ASAP while teams still have cap space. If the Bills wait until camp to cut him most teams won't have the cash that Moulds is looking for. Even that only works if there are competitive bids. If Moulds decides on 1 team and 1 team alone as acceptable then the Bills have no leverage on working out the trade.
