For those of you who forgot,arguably the best TE in Patriots history wore #81 - Russ Francis

Francis will always be 81 to me but look at the list of scrubs at WR who have worn it since then and I have no problems with it.

They did, but they un-retired it when Bethel came.

Yea, I know it's a reversal of his number in Oak, I just don't really think of it as a flashy number.

I'd argue that statement, was a huge Russ Francis fan (can still hear Howard Cosell calling him All-World), but Ben Coates has set a standard that will be tough to beat.
