Mookie wanted to stay in Boston his whole career

Not Chaim's fault. Henry gave marching orders. There's one way to make it stop: people need to stop going to Fenway

People need to stop. Mookie isn't worth that contract, and he will start breaking down. He already actually is and isn't the reason the Dodgers won a WS. I wouldn't have signed him to that contract, and newsflash...he wouldn't have if they had offered it. Him and especially his wife wanted the West Coast life, and wouldn't have gone to even the Yankees. So stop listening to him, all he is doing is trying to appease the Boston fans. He's actually an a-hole for doing that but, just drink it all up I suppose.

Red Sox management and ownership have made a lot of mistakes, but letting Mookie Betts go was not one of them when one considers what they would have had to spend to keep him.

They never will because hating the RedSox is like crack.

2nd worst move ever made by Red Sox owners.
The 1st involved a curse.
The reason was same in both cases:
Owners are cheap bastids
The main thing is that the Yankees were B slapped back into reality.

The Dynasty ain't back.

It’s his fault for not receiving a better return.

You are correct but it will never happen. The combo of it being a tourist attraction and the college kids going to the games, it will always being a sell out or close to it...every game, every year.

3rd...

second was letting Fisk go... Heywood Sullivan mailing him a contract "one day too late" lousy rotten bastard...

Betts is a better player than Fisk.
But that was pretty egregious by Sullivan.
Pudge was a great player and one of the best catchers who's ever played.
I'd still put Mookie #2, though.
We can agree both were horribly stupid moves.

barely a better player on the stat sheet...
Fisk meant more to the Red Sox than Mookie Betts ever will

and agreed, both dumbass moves

Danny Cater says to hold his beer.

And trading Earl Wilson to Detroit for essentially nothing was a quietly short-sighted move; who knows, maybe his presence on that '67 staff allows Lonborg to somehow start game 1 instead of game 2...
