You look sort of silly giving an F rating to the RB with highest yards per carry.

I'd also argue that no player on the Patriots right now has made more impactful positive contributions to the season than Newton. For all his turnovers, our offense pretty much only ever sees the end zone when it's Newton running into it. The problem with him is he's also made more impactful negative contributions than anyone else.
Not the least of which was bringing COVID-19 into the locker room.

I'd be curious to see his YPC had he not missed all this time.

OK.

But I think @mgteich was making the point that this is the Midseason Grades thread, and grades are evaluations of past performance. The Patriots have a top 5 rushing offense through the first 8 games and Sony has the highest YPC of all the RBs. How can the highest YPC average on a top 5 rushing attack warrant an F grade?

I agree with @mgteich and think people are grading Sony against what they hoped he would be, or what they think a 1st round pick should be, and not his performance over the 1st eight games of 2020. I can understand if people give him a C grade, but considering he was recovering from off season surgery coming into this year, I would give Sony a B based on performance.

Simply was curious is all. He doesnt deserve an F. B seems reasonable given his limited playtime, and he definitely hasnt played very much.

He had one fantastic game, and 17 snaps combined in the other two. I simply pointed out I wish there was more volume to make more of a judgment. At this point, we're essentially judging him off ONE GAME.
