Apparently, since he has egg on his face with the Brady situation, he is now trying to create a controversy with Welker. From his latest column:

“I think he’s crazy,” one friend who plays for another NFL team says of Welker. “He wants a new deal, and the Patriots have [second-year wideout] Julian Edelman(notes) lined up as his replacement. If I were Wes, I wouldn’t even consider coming back until October.”

Welker on fast track back to Patriots lineup - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Does Silver have to scour the league to find a "friend" to give him a quote to say something negative about the Pats? If this was a puff piece about the return about a WR from another team, would he include a negative quote like this? Seriously, the guy has it in for the Pats. Clearly this guy has an agenda.

I particularly enjoyed this chestnut.

Randy Moss(notes) – who, despite impressive numbers (83 receptions, 1,264 yards, 13 touchdowns) in 2009, provoked internal skepticism about his effort and attitude

Did he now...

I didn't mind Silver too much at SI, though he did seem to be a bit of a Colts fanboy, but lately he seems to be getting a little lazy.

Its getting or has gotten to the point that these guys just make this up as they go along.

Robo,

Regardless of your feelings about Silver, Andrew Breitbart us a damned fine reporter and your attempts to smear him with your header is beyond shameful.

I'd have to second that !

Without turning this into a political thread, I am only calling him Breitbart just because Brietbart got in trouble for doing what Silver did in the Brady piece he did. He used a misquote of Kraft to get his point across. Brietbart used a misquoted quote from Shirley Sherrod on his site to get his point across. Both misquotes were because part of the quote was missing and the part used gave the person words a meaning that wasn't intended. Silver intentially misquoted Kraft. It is unclear if Brietbart knew the tape he had was edited.

I personally have no feelings either way about Brietbart. He is just the guy who has made the headlines recently for misquoting a subject which is what Silver did in his last piece on the Pats.

Square in the black. I am simply amazed at some of the stuff i read. It's getting so the National Enquirer is as legitimate as some of the other media out there that we used to look up to.

Not to derail this too hard, but I thought the most recent controversy would be pretty dispositive on Breitbart's quality as a "reporter."

Not to continue the derailing, but it was never about her, it was supposed to be about the NAACP audience's reaction. The media made it about her, so did her bosses !

Is that wrong to do? <sarcasm off>

I see this happen almost every day here at Patsfans, and this is not directed at anyone in this thread, BTW. Just sayin'

There have been other instances with AB as well. But hey as long as it's someone making up **** that fits your world view, that's apparently okay with some people.

Well, I guess my attempt to bash Michael Silver for his hatchet reporting is destined to get dumped in the political forum. Sorry everyone.

If I cared enough, I'd dispute this point as well, but I don't, so I won't

thats the boston media BB gives them notting so they try to make up there own story

The heading was completely apt. For people who don't like the Patriots, they'll probably consider Silver's work on Brady and Welker "damned fine reporting" too. They both deal in sensationalizing nonstories, and when all else fails just making stuff up.

I was waiting for a dog-faking reference.

Wrong! They don't want it over there. I sent the Olberman one there by the loss of a coin flip. This one will go to the Practice Squad.

Please People. Keep your politics off the football forum. No one cares about that here. It turns threads to crap every single time.
