Two years is more than I anticipated, actually. That's exciting! Gilmore, Jackson, and McCourty is about as good of a 1-2-3 lineup at corner as you'll find around the league, assuming Jackson takes the next steps and McCourty doesn't fall off a cliff or anything.

A lot of future stability at cornerback
    Gilmore - 3 years
    Jackson - 3 years
    McCourty - 2 years
    Jones - 1 year

    Crossen- 3 years
    Dawson - 3 years

Big time news imo. The DB play is what made their defense really tick. It allowed their pass rush to get super aggressive because they knew they could take the risk.

Hopefully JC Jackson turns out to be the real deal and that continues or even improves.

At this point there is no reason to think this D can't be just as good as last year. Yes they need a DT or two but it isn't like Brown or Shelton were difference makers TBH.

Honestly I'd be fine without another D signing. Just draft a rookie DT in the 3rd and roll if that is what they want to do. It isn't like you can't find a quality space eating DT in the draft.

Frankly I don't recall the Pats ever having a more complete secondary in my lifetime of watching the team (started in 1985 at 9 years old). Obviously Law and Harrison were a class above on their own, but taking into account the entire rotation (starters, situational guys, backups) in the entire defensive secondary, it's as stacked as it could reasonably be during the salary cap era.

Yup. I was mostly talking about our presumed outside corners, but I like Jones a lot for his versatility to play CB/S as a slot defender (with Dawson groomed as his successor?) and his speed and willingness to tackle. Secondary looks like it's in great shape going forward.

I love JJ and might keep him just to cover Hill but I wouldn't be mad if someone plucked him for the 2nd Rd tender.

that would be great. But I doubt it will happen. BB would just find another UDFA and we could draft a receiver or OL with that pick.

Patriots CBs currently under contract for 2019:

    Stephon Gilmore
    Jason McCourty
    J.C. Jackson
    Jonathan Jones
    Duke Dawson
    Keion Crossen

ANALYSIS: Deep position with mix of solid vets and promising youth. McCourty also provides cross-over value as a safety/inside defender in sub.

2003 was amazing too. Poole was very good and Eugene Wilson has a good rookie season. Asante was in his second year and Antwan Harris made some plays.
