Mallett or Hoyer?

So we obviously have some first hand exposure to this QB battle so who do you think is better and should win the starting job?

Mallet MIGHT have more overall potential to become a good QB, but with the Texans having so much to offer via positions that aren't QB, I'd lean to Hoyer as the player with more experience and that has a better chance of limiting big mistakes.

Neither is leading your team to the SuperBowl unless he's playing with the 1985 Bears on D (and maybe the 2007 Patriots on O).

I always liked Hoyer when he was here. I thought he would be a solid starting QB at some point. I never liked Mallett. Didn't like him in college and thought he was a lousy fit for the Patriots' system. That said, I found Hoyer's performance last year to be disappointing. He made a lot of bad decisions with the ball, and that surprised me. Still though, other than Mallett's great arm, there's nothing about the guy that impresses me. I'd go with Hoyer, but only because the other options are so poor.

Until mallet wins a game its hoyer, who had the browns in the brink of the playoffs until his best reciever got done being suspended and it all fell apart.

The obvious answer is that Hoyer is the more experienced QB that has won in this league with crappy teams. With that said in the games I have watched, he seems to go in these funks.

Mallett seems so stiff and has lousy touch but man he has a cannon. Not sure how much upside he has.

At this point I'd start Mallett and if he falters you have Hoyer come in.

mallett is one of those starting material who didn't pan out. mallett is just too mistake prone with a lousy footwork. and when you top that with a suspect accuracy then you have a major issue. if i had randy moss, starting mallett makes sense because of vertical ability. for now, i would go safe with hoyer because he will win you some games and will eventually flame out. and then you can go with mallett with no pressure.

I remember telling people his rookie year that Hoyer would be a good player in this league. Then I remember him playing in week 17 against the Dolphins in 2010. He stood in the pocket like a young Brady delivering accurate passes .1 seconds before getting blasted. I said this kid will be a starter in this league some day. He's poised, has a quick release, and is accurate. Then his career drifted off track before he re-emerged in 2013. He played great, and I was taking my victory lap as an armchair scout, only to watch him tear up his knee. Then last year after a decent start, he's throwing balls into coverage and making wildly inaccurate throws, and now unfortunately I also see him as "only" a solid career backup. Nothing wrong with that for a guy that was basically out of the league a couple years ago.

Hoyer, no question.

Hoyer makes quick decisions and has solid touch on his spirals. I swear, he almost outplayed Tom Brady in that wk 16 game in '09 vs the Texans (where Welker got hurt). My biggest criticism is that Hoyer sometimes tries to get greedy going deep, and it results in just as many turnovers as it does positive gains.

Mallet? He's like Drew Bledsoe in all of the negative ways (twice as severe), and none of the positives. Slow decision making, rocket arm where the ball easily flies off target, stands like a statue in the pocket. Ugh.

I'm guessing Hoyer.

I've only seen Mallet throw footballs ten feet over everybody's head and I've seen Hoyer play what generally resembles football sometimes.

Mallett has more upside IMO, but Hoyer is definitely the better proven commodity at this time.

Mallett or Hoyer, interestingly no one ever asked them about their knowledge regarding deflated balls.... but who cares about the facts.
