Malcolm Butler Mega Thread

I'm in agreement with your stance on the matter. The worst playoff defensive performance in the Bill Belichick era against a backup quarterback, no less.
Oh okay. Yeah I mean there’s no excuse with what we saw last night.

One of the worst defensive gameplans I’ve ever seen this team put together. Sitting a top corner, no secondary blitzes, passive strategy. Just awful.

The coach better damm well answer to the owner & explain his dumb decision here. Quite frankly, I'm starting to think he wanted to get back at Kraft somehow.

My avatar is getting changed too. I don't want to hear from the pos coach till next season. Garbage

When Belichick cut Lawyer Milloy, the emotional impact of that led to the Pats losing to the Bills 31-0. Should everyone on the team have been cut or traded?

The players are human beings. Yes, it's good to have rules and stick to them, but not knowing when flexibility is called for is fanatacism.
Belichick hurt his team last night. Same stupid ass move as the Welker benching except worse.

If did not have Lombardi’s let alone 5 this would be a Grady Little type moment

Are you purposely being dense? This tweet throws your entire argument in the trash and lights it on fire.

They weren’t prepared. It’s right there from the mouthes of the players. You telling me otherwise is wasted breath.

Then one of two things happened:

1. BB intentionally sandbagged his own D by having them all practicing in positions he knew they would not be playing in, or

2. Butler did things that suggested he wasn't going to be of any use.

I am not sure that BB is known for his flexibility at all. Again, I said it in the GDT and still think that Butler should have been on the field at the very latest in the middle of the third quarter when it became apparent that no adjustment would stop the Eagles taking advantage of our largely talent-barren front 7.

You live by the sword, you die by the sword..

Sorry- mods please add this to the mega thread. Thanks

Say Butler did do things that suggested he wasn’t going to be of any use in the practices leading up to the game.

You still gave up 22 points at the half, the most of any game this season. And it’s the Super Bowl no less.

Clearly he’s more of a use then Bademosi and Richards.

To not even give him a chance and stick with Bademosi and Richards is complete lunacy.

So we've gotten to the point where we lost the game because of not playing Malcom Butler? Lol. .He was terrible this year. Half the people on here wanted him off the team. Is he better than Richards and Badomosi? Yes, but to say we lost because of not playing Butler I think is going to far.
We can speculate all day about this but for me it comes down to one thing.

This is a better defense with Malcolm Butler on the field case closed.

Badman should have not played more than Malcolm regardless of the year he had (which was at worst better than average).

For a coach who always plays the players that give him the best chance to win the game (which was Malcolm playing 98% of the snaps over 18 games), he chose last night to deviate from that philosophy.

It makes zero sense

The thing that makes no sense at all about what Rowe is saying is that Rowe didnt take Butlers package responsibilities. There is no freaking way that Butler was practicing going against Jeffrey during prep week. After reading how time it takes players to study their opponents it would also make no sense for BB to switch everything up last minute especially with Chung in mind.

It all makes no sense..

@luuked on second thought, they might not have been prepared for this after all. At least not if you believe Rowe...

Eric Rowe on Malcolm Butler's benching: 'That wasn't the plan'

At this point I will just jump off the entire Butler conversation until we know more about what happened.

This entire thing is one giant cluster**** where either Rowe is covering for his teammate and lying or the entire coaching staff lost their mind and switched up everything last minute invalidating 2 weeks of practice even though they are on the record in multiple documentaries claiming that practice is where you win games. Also they told the captains to lie to the media about when players were informed about Butlers role.

Honestly who the **** knows what exactly went down..

But then that raises the question, why? What the heck does he gain from this?

thanks. I was kind of kidding. Belichick needs to clean up his act too a little.

When is Tom verse Time episode 6 coming out? At least WACO continues this week Wednesday night.. if we need a fix from Tom verse Time withdrawal.

One thing about BB is that he is willing to make decisions for which he could get killed. Like no timeout at the end of SB 49 - he would have gotten crushed if Seattle scored. He will get crushed here. But this one moreso because he could have changed his mind at any point during the game - it was not a one shot decision.

Million dollar question there pal. None of this makes any sense.
satisfies his own ego. "You don't think I will go through with this"?... and he does. He could lose this particular group over something like this. Eventually an act like this can become too old. Apparently Brady is not happy with him anymore it seems.

i am convinced butler mouthed off to one of the coaches and bill was angry enough to sit him for the entire game. we’ll find out soon enough.

Butler talked about his contract before the game.

Wonder if that was why BB benched him.
