How am I high? Willie isn't in the same boat as Troy and that is what you fail to understand. Troy was reduced to being a PART TIME PLAYER. That is why the Patriots couldn't afford to give Troy the money. Willie is still a FULL TIME PLAYER. Do you understand the difference?

Also, a 6-7 million signing bonus is not big money anymore. Not sure where you've been the last few years, but its chump change nowadays for good players. And if you spread it out over the course of a 4 year deal, it minimizes the cap hits that the team takes. And it can be done whether the CBA is extended or not.
Troy Brown had a dummy year built into his contract, just like Willie. That's the same boat. PART-TIME? I forgot, that must have been someone else with #80 jersey playing in the secondary in '04....and WR. By doing that he significantly reduced his value. DO YOU REMEMBER??

$6-$7 mil is alot of money when the CBA is in the state it's in. And don't come back with "well the Colts are singing players". Maybe they're expecting something to happen that others don't. Probably hoping for a 30% rollback in salaries (ala NHL).

Again, I'm telling you what the Pats will do, not what you want them to do.

*ROFLMAO* Dude, get over yourself. I remember Troy Brown playing in the secondary and not playing WR once he was moved back there. I remember him being in as the Nickelback ONLY. So, Troy was out there for 30% of the defensive plays during a game. Willie was playing FULL TIME last year. I'd say he took 90%+ of the defensive snaps. BIG DIFFERENCE.

And yes, I fully understand that this was supposed to be a DUMMY year in McGinest's contract. Just like last year and this year were dummy year's in Vrabel's contract. Well, until he redid the contract, extending it to 2009.

And NO. A 6-7 Million signing isn't a lot with the state that the CBA is it. Why? Because whether a new CBA is in or not, the 6-7 million signing bonus would be pro-rated over 4 years. Which is the current max length signing bonus can be proi-rated. So, by doing what I suggest, the Patriots keep their best OLB Pass-rusher in the fold until he retires. If the Patriots were to give McGinest a 4 year extension with a 6.23 million SB with this year being replaced by the 1st year of the extension, the Patriots would reduce their salary cap burden for McGinest from 8.327 million to 3.648 million (770K vet minimum, 1.5575 mil SB pro-ration, 1.3205 old SB pro-ration). That's a savings of over 4.6 million against the cap. It would keep Willie in a Pats uniform until he retires. And, even if he retired in 2 years, the Sal Cap hit wouldn't be that great.

You aren't telling me what the Patriots WILL DO. You don't have a FRAKKING CLUE what the Patriots WILL DO. What I am mentioning isn't what I HOPE the Patriots will do. Its a very likely scenario that has been well thought out.

*ROFLMAO* Dude,
I don't know what this means. PM me if it's unspeakable on the board.

From seeing how the Pats operate is my clue.

You need to chill out. Your tone is a bit antagonistic and you're trying to make everyone UNDERSTAND that you know all. NOT!

As for playing 90% of the snaps. It's only because Vrabel had to move inside after the Beisel/Brown disaster. Don't get me wrong, I like Willie, but it's not like he's worth the money you think he is. $2-$2.5 mil/yr tops with another dummy year.

Let's just wait for the 3rd or the 10th. We can discuss this further then. I think this isn't going anywhere fast. But since you always seem to have to have the last word..................................by all means, I'm waiting.
