Dan Koppen was on. The interviewers jokingly called him Dave Koppen, apparently because the announcer's intro had been incorrect. Koppen replied something like: "I guess after a couple more years up here, people will get my name right," and laughed. He mentioned this on his own. I wonder how close he and the Pats are on a contract extension. It's important to keep this young line together.

Koppen has given our o-line a boost from last season, he's a critical part of it no doubt, but I wouldn't be surprised if at the first opportunity he bolts for the Eagles. They're weak at center right now and he's of course an Eagles fan. Pure speculation on my part, but Koppen's waiting for the offseason to see what they have to offer. I'm not accusing him of hating his coach, not liking New England or anything like that, its just natural that he'd want to play for his hometown team.

Didn't the Eagles just upgrade their center position enough to feel comfortable trading last year's starter to Cleveland?

The Eagles just let Fraley go because he was supplanted by a rookie who they love. I don't think they'll shell out top dollar for another center.

Brady has said that Koppen is one of his closest buddies on the team. After his heartbreak in losing Deon, I wonder if some of that cap space wont kick free to keep Dan in Foxboro.

I would think a very strong effort would be made. He is a good center, and young, and, if healthy, there's no reason to pay someone else to play such a key role...and Brady is very close to him....I suspect he's a priority more than Deion was.

Out of all the players coming up on free agency, Dan Koppen is the one I most expect to stay. He's a top 3 center in this league, which not many people tend to see, and his asking price should be reasonable as a result. I'd hate to lose him, he's one of the best players on the team, and he doesn't get nearly enough credit for the job he does.

They haven't traded for anybody other than Stallworth and WR Hank Baskett.

Jamaal Johnson is the only center on their roster and he's only played in 10 games. In the summer, however, the Eagles have awarded Johnson with a 7-year contract extension. Let's see how Jackson does in his first full season before we rule out Koppen going there. Koppen could be waiting for the offseason regardless of his desire to play for the Eagles anyway.
