Added to this problem is the fact BB led teams have waited for the Steelers and others to draft the DEs, convert them to linebackers, then bury them on the roster so we can pick them off, (Vrabel, Colvin).

In this competitive climate, this is nolonger a viable strategy, except at high dollar, (A.D.=great acquisition).

To get adequate talent, they might have to emulate the Steelers, or the old Parcells model and draft DEs and train them. The alternative would be lesser talent.

Yes, the myth of very low picks or UDFA being converted to successful starters on the Patriots is just that, a myth.

It has never happened in the BB, (or Carroll or Parcells) era.

The closest would be 4th rounder Colvin, but he was trained in Chicago and only picked up after 2 consecutive 10 sack seasons.

How come nobody ever remembers that Bruschi was a DT at Arizona? this is the third article I've read that said Brushi was a DE/OLB in Tuscon.

The fact that he held the NCAA sack record before Freeney while playing on the interior of the DL amazes me to this day.
