Happy 51st birthday to David Frisch

After spending his college years at Iowa Central. Missouri and Colorado State, the Bengals signed David Frisch as an undrafted rookie in 1993. He spent two seasons with Cincinnati, appearing in 27 games with two starts. At 6'7, 260 pounds, Frisch was essentially an extra tackle on the line; he had only nine receptions in the NFL, six coming in his rookie season. David was a healthy scratch for six of his eight weeks in New England, appearing in only two games for the Patriots; his only stat was an eight-yard kickoff return. Frisch signed with Minnesota in the following off season, and finished his career with Washington.

Ryan Lindley was originally a sixth round draft pick by Arizona in 2014, from San Diego State. He was thrust into a starting role late in his rookie season after Carson Palmer and Drew Stanton were both injured. His performance went about as well as one would expect for an inexperienced player that was intended to be a redshirt, long term project; it did not exactly result in potential suitors outbidding one another for his services. In the final two regular season games Lindley completed fewer than 50% of his passes, and the Cardinals lost both games. Then in a 27-16 playoff loss to Carolina he went 16-28 for just 82 yards, with one touchdown, two interceptions and four sacks.
Lindley was brought in as a camp arm three days prior to the first preseason game, after Matt Flynn was unable to get off the Non Football Injury list and pass a physical. He was also seen as insurance in case Tom Brady was unable to play due to Roger Goodell's witch hunt.
Lindley's only playing time with the Pats was when he was the team's only QB in the final 2015 preseason game, going 22-45 for 253 yards with no touchdowns and one pick. With Brady by that point being assured of being able to play in 2015, there was no longer any need to retain Lindley, and he was one of ten players waived on September 4. Lindley joined the Colts late in 2015 after Andrew Luck was injured, and then his agent hired him to tutor Carson Wentz and Jared Goff in preparation for the 2016 draft. Lindley finished his playing career the following year with Ottawa in the CFL.
It's not every year that a team cuts a quarterback that started a playoff game the previous year, but, then, it's not every year that events conspire to allow a quarterback like Ryan Lindley to start a playoff game.

After that Lindley spent two seasons as an assistant at San Diego State, was hired in 2018 as the running backs coach for the Browns in midseason when openings were created after Hue Jackson and Todd Haley were fired. The following year he was promoted to Cleveland's quarterbacks coach, but the entire staff was let go when Freddie Kitchens was also fired at the end of the 2019 season. Lindley is now an offensive analyst at the University of Utah. His career NFL stat line reads 1-5 in six starts with 51.1% of 274 passes completed, averaging 5.0 yards per attempt with three touchdowns and 11 interceptions for a 52.4 passer rating. Incredibly, Lindley's CFL stats are even worse. Didn't Baker Mayfield deserve better tutelage than that?
