Could we work out a package deal with the Browns with the JG trade and also pick up Joe Thomas? It be nice to have a veteran and one of the best o-linemen on our roster. He would be an upgrade big time.
Maybe the Browns let us have him for a 2nd rounder?
Sure he is 32, but still playing at a high level and hasn't been injured.

While I'm a fan of his, I just don't see why. Cannon was amazing last year and while Solder is not Joe Thomas, he is still a very good LT. If we were to look for other options for the LT spot, I would much prefer looking for someone in the draft to groom behind Solder.

An obvious waste of otherwise limited resources (pick + salary) as the tackle position is at least for next year in pretty good hands with Solder/Cannon. Add in a couple of OL via the draft (high/low) and see if one of them can be groomed to be our swing tackle and potential future starter.

I join those who think we are all set at the starting OT position, but I REALLY appreciate any thread that isn't suggesting a WR.

Solder is plenty adequate at LT....

Give me Joel Bitonio. Then we're talking.

Love Joe Thomas, great player. Would love to see him AS PART of a Jimmy G trade, but with the caveat that he comes with a 10m/year cap hit and at a position where the Pats seem set and need to develop YOUNGER talent.

Cleveland wants to throw him in and cool - we've got the cap space. But I still want that #1 pick or the #12 and a bunch more.

And if Brandon Cooks is worth a mid-1st-round pick, Jimmy G is worth a lot more. Cooks is good, but QB is king.

Solder is a free agent in 2018 so we will probably draft a tackle before we trade for Thomas.

Joe Thomas has reportedly stood in the way of the Browns trading him on more than one occasion. For whatever reason he likes being in Cleveland.

Sorry, but the Pats don't need a starting tackle especially not one with only one or two years left in him.

why would the Browns trade for a QB and then deal away the best QB protector they've got?

Even the Jests wouldn't be that stupid.
