Thomas has been talked about so much, feels like an honorary Patriot. Lost for year due to torn triceps yesterday - after playing over 10,000 straight offensive snaps over 10+ years. Will be a first ballot HOFer and never played in a playoff game. Loyal to the Browns to the end.

Huge mark for Thomas since his days at Madison. Damn shame he'll retire without a taste for any resemblance of success at the team level during his career. Hats off to him for going through the lows and the lowers with the Browns.

Honestly though.. How is this guy wired? What kind of individual can subject them self to such cruel punishment? Looking at his bank account might make it easier, but still..

Guy probably has a big house with kids who go to school in the area and love the area..kids probably have a lot of friendships with other kids they grew up with, Thomas family probably made a lot of friends in Cleveland...why leave a city where your family is very comfortable ?

Jason Peter's may have suffered a career ending knee injury tonight as the Eagles are sitting on top of the league.

There are probably far more cases than not where someone is willing to move locations to better their career, than there are cases where anyone (NFL player or not) is comfortable living around a ****hole like Cleveland.

To each their own though.. I'd rather just leave it be that he made that decision with confidence, rather than try to make assumptions for why he did it.

He certainly is a good "kid" so to speak.

Joe Thomas is a jewel out here in NE Ohio for the Browns and the local talk shows are all speculating that he will hang it up after this season. Right now the Browns are in serious disarray as Hue Jackson fights to save his job (probably a losing battle). Lots of rumors about trades to try and salvage a few wins yet this season. One of the big needs being discussed is a decent deep threat receiver. That gave me an idea; how about trading Phil Dorsett to the Browns? He is healthy, just not being used by the Pats and TB obviously does not have rapport with him. Depending on how desperate the Browns are for a WR, they might even trade one of their three second round draft choices (hopefully, their own, which should be #1 or #2). Maybe even throw in Cameron Fleming to help plug the hole at left tackle, which might even garner one of their two first round choices. Nothing will probably come of it, but it's fun to just speculate.

hey let him come in and be a back up here for vet minimum.

Put the 10,000+ consecutive snaps up there with Cal Ripken Jr., in my opinion. Maybe even call Joe the new Iron Man. He certainly didn't get Ripkenesque attention for it, but wow, what a testament to his unfailing determination and toughness.

Mere mortals can probably not even begin to comprehend 10,000 consecutive snaps as a NFL LT.
