Jimmy Johnson helps to frame things properly

I love watching Jimmy Johnson on the FOX pre-game because no matter what the issue is being discussed, he tends to put a practical, down to Earth perspective on it. Deep down he is not a media person or personality, he is a football person who has had experience and success at the college and NFL levels. Unfortunately his take on the video taping issue will be ignored by the press because 1.) He is friends with Belichick and 2.) He was successful and therefore hated by the media and fellow football colleagues, players, etc. It seems the only successful people who get a pass from the mainstream media are the come from behind Cinderella stories or the great player playing on the bad team.

Jimmy not only made the trade, he then picked good players with the picks they got. He wasn't a beneficiary. He was the architect.

wrong, jerry jones did. he micro-manages everything that team does

Not when Jimmy was there he didn't.

The reason Jimmy left is Jerry wanted that control.

then why did jimmy flop in miami when wayne gave him total control?

And that has worked great, huh?

As a fan, I always hated the Cowboys and Dolphins and by extension, Jimmy Johnson. But I do think Jimmy was a good coach and lately he has been one of the biggest supporters of the Pats.

Regarding the quote above, I saw another clip where he stated specifically that he learned the videotaping practice from K.C. in 1989 and used it for a while he was coaching the Cowboys, but stopped using it there because he really wasn't getting much from it. He basically admitted to doing the exact same thing while he was coacing the Cowboys to SB titles that Belichick is being crucified for.

The point is that this was probably a common practice and although he may not have got much benefit from it, Belichick continued to do it because he never likes to leave any stone unturned. You also know he hates the NFL telling him what to do so he figured he could continue taping based on his interpretation of the rules. I doubt he ever anticipated such a tempest from this, not that he was afraid of getting caught, but that this is such a small part of his normal preparations and he never thought it would be such a big deal.

You guys are giving Jimmy Johnson too much credit here. I personally think he should just keep his mouth shut about the NFL and stick to NASCAR...

Oh wait, wrong double J, my bad!

Now that was funny!

Go Jr!

I wish guys like Jimmy Johnson and other would stand up for BB and threaten Goodell to blow the whistle on everything that's been done. How can every other F'n coach just sit there and play dumb? Frankly, I find that disgustingly hypocritical.

He is the only coach that has stood up for Bill Belicheck and the Patriots throughout the season. However, it doesn't seem like anybody is listening which is frustrating.
