He would have to sign a massive deal somewhere. And the niners wouldn’t be able to get any fa of their own before draft week that same offseason or it would cancel his deal out and they get nothing. So a third is possible if he gets a huge deal, but still far from guaranteed.

Correct, it all depends on the overall equation. I just worded it that way because the post was implying that they would automatically get a 3rd if he signed somewhere for starter cash. With the cap rising next year and the 49ers being in the top half of teams with the most space, it’s completely up in the air if they get any comp picks for him.
