Re: Vilma Given Permission to Speak with Every Team Except Patriots?

I agree, hence the Jets wanting to get rid of him, which makes it all the more weird that they've made this stipulation (since they should rationally know that the Pats wouldn't want him anyways). Was this just a pure spite move?

Oh? Didn't Michael Holley write that Belichick considered drafting Vilma?

Colvin was a 4-3 LB too remember. It's not impossible to convert! I believe Coach B would seriously look at Vilma if he could.

This is a bullsh*t move by Jets out of spite. F*k them.

Colvin was moved to OLB. Vilma is way small to play OLB in a 3-4. The other 2 are in the 260lbs+ range.

It's amusing to me how so many people seem to ignore the part where it says he can seek a trade to anyone except the Patriots. I know most of the talk is about a general 3-4, but a lot of people are saying "I wouldn't mind having him here," etc.

What can the Jets do about it if the Patriots "tamper" with him regardless?

We call, we say, we'd pay you $6 million or more. Vilma gets an idea in his head about his market. Voila.

it is quite easy actually....just let him know the pats want him, and vilma wont "find any interested trading partners" at which times the jets release, and the pats sign him.....

quite obvious

Pats to Jets (et. all): We don't want any of ya - Your team sux. Thanks for playing.

That raises an interesting question: who sucks more at evaluating talent, the JEST or the 'lphins (eh, if you don't need 'em, we'll take 'em off your hands)?
