Jerod Mayo sounds like Tedy and Rodney

I am so excited to see him play this upcoming season....can't wait to see what he can do in a Pats uniform! I have a feeling he's gonna be one of my favorite pats. If he's anything like Tedy or Rodney, he definitely will be!

From hearing/reading sounds like a lot of these guys are going to be fun to watch develop, but he's top on my list - hope he picks up the system quick and contributes early.

There is one part in the middle of that 6 min interview where I swear either Rodney or Tedy said the exact same (at the time unique) thing, in the same tone and everything as Jerod Mayo talks. Eery.

Seriously how good is Mayo. Last year I remember hearing Patrick Willis's name alot. Since I don't watch much collage football, and I stopped watching ESPN Mayo's I haven't heard much about Mayo until the last couple of days.
Is he at all comparable to P. Willis?

He sounds like a heck of a mature kid, whoever he sounds like

I guess we'll find out - but for Belichick to take a LB this high and for him to say this :

"He's one of the higher-rated linebackers that we've seen in a while," said Belichick."

We know how much Belichick likes him. Not that he would say "he sucks" but that was a strong statement.

It's awsome to have all this young fast Lbers...BB&SP are best in the business...Mayo is going to be a beast....GO PATS!!!!LOUD AND PROUD!!!!

BB doesan't through around complements around lightly. The above is the grade A seal of approval. Except for J Seau I don't remember BB ever praising a player so highly.

The closest he comes to acomparison to Willis is both played LB in the SEC. At the end of the day, Mayo isn't qualified to carry Willis' jockstrap.

Doonan what did he say?

Talked about his love for football, especially after something happened his freshman year which made him think about what it would be like if football was taken away from him. Said he didn't go out after that because football was too important to him. Well spoken, sounds like a great kid. Also joked around about his last name again, and talked about how excited he was to play with Bruschi etc.

Dale and Holley spoke about the "incident" Mayo mentioned and said the wrong guy was arrested in an assault case and that charges against Mayo were dropped.

Thanks.

I have been pouring over audio and vid files of this guy. It is UNCANNY how much his mindset and even direct quotes sound just like Tedy or Rodney or even Tom. If there was ever a Patriots type sounding player straight out of the draft in the past 7 years, it is Jerod Mayo imo.

i think him & Wheatley are very well spoken individuals. Mayo is a leader and hes going to be a captain for years to come. He leads by every kind of way..vocal, on the field, off the field. Hes a very smart guy who loves the game and will work very hard to be the best he can be
