When I read this story, the first thing I thought about was the special on HBO State of Play "Trophy Kids" which highlights the negative affects parents can have when they push their kids to unreasonable levels to fulfill their own dreams. I'm glad JE had a good balance with his parents and turned out fine from what we can see and that he is doing something he truly enjoys.

MacMullan was a mediocre beat reporter/columnist/whatever who found her niche as a superb human-interest/life-story writer.

Psychoanalysis of people and categorizing them based upon limited, anecdota,l second or third hand information is risky. I just enjoyed reading the piece for its face value. Jackie is a fine writer and is particularly knowledgeable about basketball, which she played competitively. She's just not terribly objective when it comes to the Pats, in general, and Bill B. In particular. I also wouldn't invite her and Matt Light to the same party.
