Amazing rookie performance

Without a RB or a running game and pure one dimensional passing offense? It was a great rookie performance. You take a rookie in the fourth game of his career and tell him that they are not going to run the ball at all and he is going to have to carry the offense and he completes 77.5% of his passes and throws for two TDs? That is a great rookie performance.

That one was correcting a self-inflicted mistake. Dak also nearly doubled Mac's yardage output that game.

Mac's best game was the Vikings game last season hands down. He was phenomenal. Unfortunately that's probably going to be the high point of his career.

Yes, and responded by throwing a 75 yard TD pass.

You talk about the game against one the worst defense in the league where he put a lot of stats in the first 3 quarters and went MIA in the 4th when it mattered? That game ?
It was still his best game hands down and he was excellent. The running game was nothing that day and he was making throw after throw. That's the kind of game Zappe could never and will never have.

If you don't want to count that one then the Buffalo game this season was an honorable mention.

You can’t be excellent when you only show up for 3/4 of the game. Even more when you disappear when it matters.

The more times passes the more the Buffalo game become less and less impressive

Eh it still counts. Those two are the highlights of his career. Unfortunately they'll probably be the only highlights. I guess getting to start an NFL playoff game could be a highlight if you don't talk about the game itself.

Why would be weary of Mac Jones in that game? Mac carried the offense that game. He completed 77.5% of his passes with two TDs in a game where the Pats literally had no running game. I mean the Pats finished the game with -0.1 rushing yards for the entire game. Yes, NEGATIVE yards rushing. If Belichick was weary of going for it because of the offense, it was because they had no running game and he knew the Bucs' defense would be ready for a pass.

Looking back. Considering there was absolutely no running game in that game, Mac played great in that game.
Maybe because on the 3rd down Mac almost threw an INT to the safety trying to throw across his body.

It should be but it isn’t.

Watching him is like a nut tap.
At this point. There is nothing else more we need to see. I'd wish BB had the guts to play Cunningham. Each Sunday it gets worse and worse. Heck cam newton was better!

If the Zappah starts be prepared to see those sideline passes turn into Pick 6s.
We have not hit rock bottom yet.
That happens when the D gives up and joins the O in listless performance.

Jones may have a future in the league. But as a backup and not in NE.

Zappe never belonged in the league and should have never been drafted by us. Period.
We have 2 scared bad QBs.. Malik should be allowed to play.. we know Billy B won't do it though..

Malik probably isn't the answer either but just for our fan entertainment agree 100%. Has to be a lot better than whatever that was we saw at the QB position yesterday.

It should be, but I fully expect MAC will be trotted out to start against the Chargers. In reality, who else do they have? Zappe looks to be just as bad as MAC,
Maybe they should try that 4th round draft pick Chad Ryland at QB. He sure as hell can't kick.

The guy threw 40 times in that game and only had nine incompletions despite the Pats not running the ball at all that game. But you are going to make it all about Mac sucking somehow when he didn't.

Absolutely agree, he'll look at it as he's thrown in the towel. He cares nothing about us as fans and entertainment value. But for the life of us.. he'd be at least something we can cheer. We are banged up on Defense but they bring it each week, and are more than capable of allowing the offense opportunity. To me.. I believe the krafts already have thier minds made up. They are just letting fire burn

If Bill cares even a little for Mac's psyche, he should 100% not start him at Foxboro this coming week. I doubt the fans will be giving him a hometown hero welcome.

The Ravens just put up 197 rushing yards on the below avg Chargers D. They are last in the league on passing defense. They're also top 10 in sacks. Watching Mac turtle under pressure isn't entertaining.

Give Zappe all of the 1st team reps, run the ball down their throats, and let Zappe roll out and fling it on PA plays to Parker/Thornton (i know, i know).

Zappe isn't the answer but for God's sakes, stop putting the fans through the agony of having to watch Mac's melodramas unfold live. At this point it doesn't really matter anyway, might as well make it entertaining.

The question was why didn't Bill trust Mac: during crunch time, when the game was on the line, when it matters the MOST, Mac almost threw a pick to Lavonte David on a must have 3rd and 3 play with a minute left.

So yea, Bill chose the high risk fg instead.

Capice?

How many GWDs does Mac have in his 3 seasons? Dude has ZERO clutch gene. He's the anti-Brady.

Bill will never publicly show an admission to us the fans.. he'll continue to trot Mac out there unfortunately. The next few feeds should in reality be all about an evaluation of the young and unproven players going forward under the next coaching staff. Bill knows it's over, the krafts know it's over. Once we get a QB and some guys around there QB we should have a much, much better team to watch and root for on Sundays. What CJ Stroud has done for the Texans is remarkable.

Maybe with no threat of a running on fourth and 3, he felt the odds were more in the favor of kicking the field goal. Maybe it was the fact that the running game generated negative 0.1 yards that game is what he didn't trust. On a fourth and 3, you want the other team to have to be read for either a run or a pass. But the Bucs knew that the Pats would be passing on that down. Makes it far easier to defend the play.

Or maybe it is because Belichick has become ultra conservative in his old age and doesn't trust anyone other than Brady in those situations. He didn't try for a TD yesterday when he had an opportunity at the end of the game. He didn't try to win in regulation against Green Bay last year with Zappe either.

You can't evaluate anybody on Offense with this pathetic QB play.

New England is in an odd position where there are zero QBs good enough to get us to mediocre status, and yet there are several who are erratic enough to prevent us from getting the draft pick we want by squeaking out an unexpected win or two.
