So, I just saw a mock where the Pats draft DeVonta Smith at #15. Firstly, I’d flip out if that happened, I think Smith is going to be a GREAT NFL receiver, a true #1 receiver, and that’s something we don’t have. Great route runner, great hands, smart, tough, great speed, he has it all.

Secondly, why in the world is the guy falling (if he is falling). To me, he’s the best receiver in the draft, and will be a true impact player. Personally, I felt that if the Jets were going to keep Darnold as their QB, I felt Smith would go to the Jets at #2 overall, and it would be a great pick.

But now I’m seeing him being mocked as the SECOND best WR, and sometimes the third, behind Waddle as well. Do you guys think he’s falling ? Though I want one of the top 5 QBs, if we wind up with Smith, I certainly wouldnt

I am also higher on Smith. Dude is a stout. Doubt the jets go in that direction. If they don't go QB they should go Pitts or Sewell I think. WR is deep in this draft.

Disagree 1000%. He knows how to avoid a hit, and has good enough speed to get away as well. He’s 6’1”, so not a tiny player, just thin at 170.

We'll See. I do not wish failure on anyone. I like specimens.

He's skinny, but he's hyper-athletic and extremely polished. He's tough and wins contested catches. He's not frail, doesn't play weak, and hasn't suffered a ton of injuries from big hits. If he falls to 15 (assuming we don't trade up for a QB), then I'm all about drafting Smith.

D smith what do we know?
He is about six foot tall.
he only weighs about 165 pounds
He is not very fast, only about 4.5.
he is one of, if not, the best route runner in the draft.
He can get open by two yards in a phone booth.

I bet he’s faster than 4.5. I bet he runs in the 4.4s

Who cares about Devonta Smith...I want Parson, but after his pro day...I do not believe we have a shot at him.

He said he’s 170lb. I’d run to the podium to pick him at 15

Doubtful that Devonta Smith gets past the Dolphins at #6. They moved back up for a reason. Looks like they want to build around Tua so WR will be an early pick for them.

Exactly. Would draft Devonta aka Marvin Harrison 2.0 in a heartbeat. Would only consider Devonta or Chase among offensive players in the first round, everyone else I'd consider would be on defense.

.

Whats stopping him from putting on some weight and working with the strength and conditioning guys ?.....if we are lucky enough to get him I would think his overalls skills would make him a worthwhile pick for sure.

He could but then he'd be 180-185, still small. If it happens naturally I'm all for it but he'll always be small. I'll gladly bet on him at 15. Top 5-10, not so much.

some guys don’t have the body type to put on a lot of muscle or fat. the scientific term is ectomorph. brady is a perfect example of someone who is constantly skinny even though he works out a lot. Smith is the same body type i would think. he can put on a little weight but it won't be much.

Agreed. He ran a 10.6 100 meter in highschool, and likely got faster since then. He regularly pulled away from defenders. Speed is the least of my worries with Smith. I think he's the most can't miss receiver in the draft. I'd take him over Chase or Pitts (although that's a close one).
