Well, not completely but today's the eagles parade and I'm working from home to avoid the mess in the city. I decided to go for breakfast at a local cafe and decided to wear my Pats Superbowl XLIX sweatshirt. Of course everyone else had their eagles gear on and were staring at me so it was slightly uncomfortable but no one gave me any problems.

I made some realizations this morning. It is a chance for me to accept this with some class. Regardless of how we lost the game, I can react in the best way possible. I can show the eagles (and other) kids how to accept loss with grace, that this is after all, just a game. There's so much hate in the world already. Is this what we want to teach our kids? Is our sense of happiness really contingent upon others?

So I'm going to continue ro proudly wear my Pats gear and keep congratulating the eagles fans on their happiness because my own happiness is not coming from somebody else's sadness. We're on to 2018.

I was over it Tuesday. its hard to stay miserable when they just won last year and I've watched them win 5. it would be like some rich kid crying that his dad took 2 million out of his 50 million trust fund.

I was over it on Monday. They got beat, that’s the way it goes. They have a great deal of work to get ready for next season and I’m actually am fascinated to see how they will build next season’s team.

I'm over it now that Josh is staying. It made me feel like everything is going to be okay and we will have a chance in the coming years to win again before Brady retires.

More like if the rich kid’s father didn’t want to give him another $10 million so he has $60 million in his trust fund.

yup, couldn't agree more. Eagles were the best team this year and deserve this.

At times like these I like to delve back into politics, you know, something a little less divisive. ;)

Oh lord did we really need another thread of someone preaching how they’re “above it all” and not bothered by the heartbreaking loss?

I definitely didn't take this loss as bad as the 2007 one. I remember Matt Light on the field in an interview after the loss to the Giants in the Superbowl in 2007 yapping how he's so proud of the season and all the team has accomplished and I was just screaming "Are you kidding me?".

I definitely was more relaxed this time. I feel even though we should have won, that's largely because of how great a game the offense had. Our defense was suspect throughout the year and it showed in the end. We've just not drafted enough good young talent in last 3 years either from missing on picks, or trading them away etc. I thought our defense was weak skills-wise. It was a heroic effort to get this far with them.

You can just ignore it. I didn't say I'm above it all. I just said there's a lot more to happiness than a superbowl.

I prefer to teach my kids that the only was losing is acceptable is if you give 110%...The Patriots defensive players and coaches clearly did not give their best effort

Isn't this exactly what Brady learned in college and has preached ever since?

I’m not like that. I like to win so much I tossed a bean ball at my own kid in a father son game but to be fair, the little bastard was right on top of the plate. Now I don’t teach them hate but to be kind to other kids unless they have on some stupid other teams hat, then throw rocks at them. Jk

I was over it Monday morning. It sucked Sunday night but there has been too much success lately to really get upset over this one. Especially when they just got outplayed - pure and simple.

And if you don’t make the team blame the coach.

I was at an auction in PA yesterday. Wore my Pats hat. It was a bunch of blue collar guys bidding on mills, lathes, scrap metal etc... but I got nothing but some good natured ribbing.

On one of the items in which I won a non contested bid the auctioneer said, "Well....got to let the Patriots win something this week..." hahaha.

It reminds of us in 2001. Strange how a game can impact your life like that.

I doubt he’ll be over it. As a player or coach, you’re never over a big game like this. It’ll fuel them to do better next year, for sure, but they’ll never get over it. Bill and Tom will always be thinking about the mistakes they made during the course of the game and in the preparation.

I have been making my 8 year old nephew into a consummate Pats fan and he was all upset on Monday (he saw most of the game but it was a school night and my bro and sis in law are both professors). I called him and basically had to be mature and conciliatory because he picks up on everything. Told him we have won historic SBs and lost historic SBs. The NFL essentially goes through Foxborough. Tip your hat to the fans of other teams and tell em, “see you next year, but most likely WE won’t.”
