How Long Will We See The Starters in Week Three?

Hopefully we have the game wrapped up well in by the half. I would rather Suh hit Brady as little as possible.

I don't think the score will have any effect on how long the starters stay in the game. I would think the coaching staff is looking for the starters to get a certain number of snaps, and for all the backups - specifically the guys on the bubble to make the roster - get a certain number of snaps.

I would think the starters would be out there for about twenty to thirty plays regardless of if that's early in the second quarter or well into the third.

But yeah, the line will have its hands full keeping Suh away from Brady. As I recall from last year Detroit was able to get a lot of pressure early, then the Pats made some adjustments, bringing Crumpler across to help protect in the middle of the line. Once they did that Brady had more time and what was a close game turned into a relatively easy win.

I see starters playing the first series in the 3rd before we see backups. First half is about quality snaps, first series of 3rd is seeing if they can maintain their pace after halftime break or make needed adjustments.

The score of the game is irrelevant for how long the team plays other than if they really suck it could make the starters play long into the third quarter.

Typically, the starters will play into the 3rd quarter to give them a shot to have experience in half-time adjustments.

Suh is still an NFL newbie.

Has he shown us that he can break thru a Danny Woodhead block yet?

I didn't think so!

I agree with most of the other posters and based on BB's history in pre-season, the starters will play a certain number of snaps which will take them about a third of the way into the 3rd quarter. By then, some of the subs will have rotated into the lineup so the transition will not be very noticeable. Hoyer will be next up and may play the remainder of the game.
