So if the Pats decide to execute a trade and need cap space, do you think they have ready made contracts and prior discussions with players on the shelf?

..or would they call an agent and hope they are amenable to redoing their clients contract with no prior heads up?

any ideas?

I would imagine it's a bit like war plans. Already existing as plans in being, updated from time to time as circumstances dictate then dusted off and executed as needed. In the past the Pats have always been mindful of not kicking a single can down the road that was avoidable but they are now in uncharted waters. Their QB has lasted longer than anyone had a right to expect, 1st world problems
