While Ted Wells investigates DeflateGate about as fast as Flash on The Dukes of Hazzard, it has become increasingly clear that the NFL has no problem spending money on legal fees.

A peak at a recent 990 filed by the NFL, a not-for-profit, shows that in 2012-2013, the NFL spent $19.8 million on legal fees to outside contractors while the salary for in-house counsel Jeff Pash, Esq. was $6.2 million. Salaries for other in-house attorneys are not reported since they do not qualify as officers or top-five paid employees.

Oh, yeah. Ted Wells, Esq. is a partner with Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP, the NFL's #1 independent contractor in 2012-2013 at $9.03 million.

Is DeflateGate about how much air was in a football, or about how much Ted Wells can bill that struggling non-profit NFL, Inc. before somebody calls and says, "When do you think we'll get to see the report?"

But ... but ... Isn't it all about the integrity of the game?
