Watched HOF speeches last night. I typically won't watch BSPN but I'm in a hotel and ran into it while channel surfing.
All the speeches were somewhat typical in that they thanked family, teammates, coaches etc.. but each had a unique touch.
I particularly enjoyed Greene's, Dungy's, Favre' s and Eddie DeBartolo's.
Eddie's was both funny and meaningful.
- when Rice first became a 49er the guys called him FiFi (fee fee).
- Rice would change his uniform 2 or 3 times a game.
- The NFL needs "a little more sense of family ". (Seems to be advocating for better care of players beyond the game)
Brett Favre -
Extremely emotional but authentic.
- spent a lot of time speaking about his wife and father.
(Just an observation but I couldn't help think that while he was praising his wife his wife's expression looked more like a "screw you and your sexting ass" rather than a "awe he's recognizing me".)
Tony Dungy
Good speech highlited with thanking the African Americans who came before him and paved the way.
Kevin Greene
Entertaining speech. He came from a strong military family and paid tribute to all those who wear a uniform including PD and FD (which is oddly left out of the highlights)
Anyways it was a good HOF class and an enjoyable watch.
FiFi - hahaha
