The Broncos haven't lost a game with Ed Hochuli officiating in this millennium. You could make a not-entirely-crazy case that just assigning him to this game at all is a form of the league trying to create its desired outcome.
Go scour the various head refs and I'm sure you could find one with the same statistic in favor of New England.
If there's one ref whom I believe isn't a league led stooge, it's Ed "Muscles" Hochuli. The guy's been around long enough, I highly doubt he's on the fix.
If a few bad calls/no calls are the difference between a win and a loss, than the Pats played like crap and deserve to lose. Refs can have a bad game and still not affect the probable outcome. Heck they were terrible in the last Broncos game and STILL...the Pats had a 14-point lead with possession of the ball in the 4th Quarter.
The Pats blew the game, not the refs. The refs didn't cause Harper to muff the punt. The refs didn't let CJ Anderson go untouched to the endzone. The refs didn't make the Pats throw the ball instead of milk the clock with a lead and a little over 2 minutes to go, so on and so forth....
Sorry, the league may make it tough, if you believe that, but Ed Hochuli and an all star crew of officials will not be the reason for a loss. It's all on the players and coaches.
