Whoever leaked that tape inadvertantly ended the witch hunt. :
Plus the fact that Kraft and the Pats were not about to let this be played out in the court of public opinion.

QUOTE= The NFL isn't going to press this any more because their own accountability is being brought into question over "confidential" meterial being broadcast on national TV.:
Exactly!!!!!

If this were the case (other teams being taped) then the Pats wouldve been punished more....thats what Goodell said. He said if there was evidence of more spying, he'd up the fine. If you were the Lions or another team that accused the Pats of spying, wouldnt you want punishment?

Bill had proof.

His responsabiliy was to reveiw the tapes and decern weather they were either "Yes" adding other teams additional information or b. Inconclusive evidence that was way obviously swayed againt the Jets orgininization.

Advanced Scoutings Tip for the rest of the NFL"s clubs. Goodell is a NY guy with Jeats ties.

Be sure of this, if any tapes that could've been used against the Jests are included, you can GUARUNTEE they've been burned in the weekly FOX News bonfire party.

This is exactly how Goodell wanted this to go.

So, the media and the fans of all the other teams who have been made to feel unworthy by the Patriots over the past 6 years went ballistic when the news of cameragate broke. The media played it like it deserved equivalent billing of a capital crime.

Goodell and the NFL say the matter is closed. They've destroyed the very tapes that many media geniuses said would be scrutinized for further violations in order to take the Patriots to the woodshed. Goodell's intentions in this situation are now obvious. This was the only way he could lay this topic to rest without saying or implying by a lesser punishment that there are degrees to which one can break the rules, as it was important that he act decisively and quickly. He actually did the best thing he could for the NFL and the Patriots.

Goodell got what he wanted without compromising the integrity of the rules. The media and the fans got football.

I don't agree. Goodell really wanted to level the playing field and had planned to distribute all the other tapes and data to all other teams so everyone had the same basis as the Pats. When he actually saw all the relatively meaningless and harmless tapes and data, he realized he could not release it because it would clearly show how he had made a mountain out of a mole hill. So to save face and following in the lead of his idol, Richard Nixon, he destroyed the evidence and ended the witch hunt. And this way, he never would have to admit he made a mistake and had over penalized the Pats.

The best thing for the NFL (and I think many teams will see this as well) is that Goddell will stop listening to the 'chicken little's', truely see the harm of leaking information prematurely and look at all the evidence before he renders his godly judgement.
